theres this place in York that claims to have the best burgers in Perth and alot of ppl go there claiming that.

its a weird setup also: they make the burgers inside an old train?! and the restaurant consists of u sitting on a park bench.

i went there years and years ago. the burgers were pretty awesome.

Alfred's Kitchen in Guildford FTW....has been there since 1946 (or 1943 i think)

Steak Burger with egg n bacon on toast FTW....BEST BURGERS IN THE WORLD....and i have been to Chicago (their burger's are mud lol)

me and my friend went to jusburgers on friday night

my review - when we got there it was PACKED TO THE FREAKING RAFTERS

then suddenly it emptied - weird, like i've never seen a place empty out that fast!

anyway the service was fantastic, the young girls that work there seem so happy and accomodating, so that was a fresh change to perth otherwise "full of attitude" demeanour, so kudos to the staff

FOOD ITSELF

was nothing to complain about - i was happy with what i got but there is a few suggestions i could make "to them" that i'll place here

the meat they use is 100% australian fresh lean beef, no fat, no onions, no extras, nothing, SO if the meat is that high quality then why cook it completely well done all the way through?

as an avid eater of meat i know that a "certain" amount of fat makes meat have that TASTE to it, with fat meat tastes a bit better but more importantly it makes it moist n juicy

in short the patties have zero fat content and are cooked "too much" which leaves them sort of dry and tasteless, i'd prefer a bit of fat or something with my burger - i mean it's a BURGER!!!! it doesn't have to be a heartsmart lean sandwich...

aside from that they are fantastic!!!

Yer spicy chicken burger with a side of nangs FTW!

The even delivered!! with ciggarettes! can life get better? i submit that it can not.

:)

They didn't deliver as far as us.. so many off-my-face missions to that place lulz

I'd go Slow-Eddies over Alfreds anyday. Just stay away from the Midland one, they got done for health cods violations.

Fast eddies in midland have new owners now and unlike the last owners they are keeping the meat refrigerated. Anyways the food is much better (including the burgers), but still Alfreds FTW

  • 2 weeks later...

oh btw Colonial Brewery Margaret River has a awwwwwesome steak sandwich. Said it came 2nd in some wa competition but yer it was still killer, and came with one free beer which just all happened to have awards to.

York burgers are pretty freaking awesome... but not exactly perth. may as well go to northam (lol..... *cry*)

Best burger i've had in a long time was at the Goomalling Roadhouse, closely followed by the Olive Grove in Merredin.

Must. Go. Merredin.

f**k all out there, but is freaking awesome foods... they make wedges that'd dirty the front of your pants....

    • Thanks for the reply @GTSBoy this is is a hydraulic lifter engine. Yea right i did not realise the lifters were supposed to be compressible while installed. I could push them down but i had to lean almost my while body weight on them.  I have never heard of a lifter/ lifters ticking only at hot idle and getting worse the hotter it gets. I have owned a few jdm cars with noisy lifters. This noise is slightly more subtle, it is more of a sharp gentle metalic tic than the solid and more loud tapping I've heard on lifters. I have used a metal rod, alloy tube, hose and stethoscope and could not find the source of the tick. But it appears to be loudest on the actual engine block behind the exhaust cam gear and next to the oil filter. I had mate (40 year old mechanic) go over it with me and he couldn't find it either..  Could it be a cam seal issue of some sort?  Cheers
    • This seems problematic and unlikely at the same time. Vanilla RB2Xs have hydraulic lifters. They do have "zero" clearance, but only when running with oil pressure inside them. When not running, you should be able to compress them and obtain heaps of clearance. RB26s and Neos have solid lifters. They should have ~0.3mm and ~0.5mm on the inlet and exhaust respectively. If they have zero clearance then bad things are happening. With nothing else being wrong, it would mean that the valves would be held slightly (ever so slightly) open when they are supposed to be closed and it should have all sorts of problems when running, caused by leakage in/out through the valves. Or, zero clearance can indicate severe valve seat recession. None of it is good. Have you used a piece of hose as a stethoscope to try to localise the noise?
    • Sorry for reviving an old post, but I'm having the same hot idle tick issue. Did anyone ever find out what it was?  I have checked/ replaced Injectors Coils checked Lifter clerance (is at zero) Checked Cam lobes Replaced exhaust gasket and studs Would appreciate any advice this is driving me nuts
    • There's a huge reason manufacturers are tuning in dead flat torque curves... Make them reliable (and more drive able)
    • What HVAC actuator is under the steering wheel? Do you mean on the RHS of the centre console, immediately to the left of your shin? If so, then yes, it is probably that one, because that is the mode door actuator, and from what I know, it's still a pain in the arse to replace. I don't know about whole dash out, but you certainly have to rip into the centre console section. I don't know if it's covered in the workshop manual, as I haven't spent much time looking at those parts of it. (and by "the workshop manual, I mean the R32 GTR one, which is the most comprehensive one we have, and it should be similar enough between that and later cars to serve as a guide).
