sounds right, so the best solution, is you keep the stock ecu and piggyback another ECU on top, or remap the stocker

piggybacking another ECU on top is expensive, and a complex exercise ($$$$) in custom work

remap is by far easier, quicker and cheaper

Agreed. I swear by a re-mapped ECU. That way the trans remains happy and you have a stealth tune that a police officer can't detect and can be easily de-tuned for EPA purposes. No-one's the wiser (without taking your ECU apart.)
