Lol where would i get one of them from though? I dont mind cutting the trim, im sure i can do a decent job of it. But i might just mount the gauges as they come, they have their own mounts or i can buy a holder. I would prefer a holder, they look better, but if its that much harder then ill just mount them on the top dash with their stock mounts

They pop up on ebay a fair bit, and in the SAU for sale section.

This might be a noobish question, but will this work if using a piggy back system such as the eManage Blue? I would imagine that the data coming from the ECU would be data before being remapped by the eManage and therefore probably wouldn't show correct data on the ecu talk... or am I mistaken? Looks like something I might add to my future mod list if it will be compatible.

it reads what the ecu sees. so if the ecu is being tricked into believing lower AFM volts, then it will show the lower AFM volts (and if thats the only signal intercepted/modified, wont make much difference). outputs like injectory duty % will be unaffected.

I got Water temp, oil temp and oil pressure in the Defi BF series. Pretty sure they are legal there also.

See thats probably what im gonna end up doing, just mounting the gauges without a holder, same place you have them. Is that cable going into your aircon vent from the gauges? Or how did you get the wiring through the firewall?

i think you may find that injector duty may be different. the SAFC is just a afm signal bender, but others like the emanage can alter the injector rates without just bending the afm signal (which also results in a timing change). the emanage just intercepts the injector signal from the ecu to the injector then alters it a bit to get the required injector duty.

ahh yeah if it also modifies the injectors or timing (if thats possible) then those outputs will also be inaccurate. but with that much 'trickery' going on, i wonder if it wouldnt have been much better to get a daughterboard/remap/nistune type setup.

back on topic, ive actually thought of making a digital gauge that hooks up to the consult port and allows you to set it up to read one of the readings (be it water temp, speed, volts, etc). e.g. a 4 digit LED display with decimal point. mainly because people are used to mounting gauges and not so much mounting rectangular displays. if only i didnt have a real job i might have made it already :P ive been too slack on updates to the LCD display anyway, so thats first priority.

Goes through the air con (had to drill a small hole) then into the controller unit (near my left knee area). The only wires which go through the fire wall are the ones for the sensors, and they go through the bit just above the accelerator.

Dammit, all this gauge talk has got me looking into supplying them again. I did have everything ready to go with being a supplier for SAGA and Swoosh but the LEDs got me too busy. I've contacted them again so may go ahead with it. Get the car back to commercial jet form

Yeah no problem, funny though I just found some stock from a while back, the SAGA/Swoosh equivalent of the Defi Link series.

I should put them up for sale. Boost Gauge, Exhaust temp gauge, oil pressure gauge and oil temp gauge. They all daisy chain together and come with a remote control (instead of the control unit DEFI uses) and include all sensors :P

They've only ever been out of the box to see what they look like, then forgotten about in the garage.

Dammit, you guys have started me ricing it up again :)

How's this, fits perfectly where the "useless" lighter was, it's RFID so knows when the driver is in the car....has a nice Aluminium bezel so matches the interior well.

1 push = Acc

2 pushes = On

or

Foot on brake and 1 push - Ign!!!

looks good dan! Almost looks like its meant to be there. I use my cig lighter though for my GPS though that's an easy work around.

Yeah, you can get those cig lighter extender things with two of them on, can go in the ashtray (where the lighter should be anyway)

    • CTIS (Central Tire Inflation System) has existed since the 80's. I'm looking into buying a Hummer H1 and they generally included it.
    • My idle is set at 950rpm though - Moving the timing around 20 degrees is not really what I'd call a calm idle. That said... neither is chop, by definition. The LS ECU likes to adjust timing to hold idle as opposed to air. It'd work, but generally speaking there'd be a discrepancy in the base idle and the IACV would want to move the timing around anyway to maintain said idle. I think I'm just going to keep the timing steady anyway. Preserve my engine mounts.  My aircon is now officially regassed. As the guy was reversing I noticed my reverse lights do not operate, along with my reverse cam. This is a bit distressing, because 100% of guides talk about which wire to connect to backup cams as "the goes with the [other color] wire". Often when doing conversions. Unfortunately the R34 colour wires aren't documented Unfortunately I had a T56 Magnum gearbox with it's reverse switch, which also isn't documented. Unfortunately there's definitely not documentation for people with both of these in the one car. Unfortunately I forgot. After many hours of this, I have a reverse cam and reverse lights again. The wire going through the trans tunnel to the reverse switch had broken. Upon inspection, it looks like this one wire had about 7 spade terminals and extensions in it.. for reasons I cannot possibly comprehend. I also spent the 750 hours required to clean up the wiring behind my head unit which now looks like this: This is a monumental improvement relative to what used to be there WRT triple gauges, head unit, traction control, wideband controller, and whatever the f**k OEM stuff still exists there in various states of connectivity/needed. Next step is to check in at the Exhaust shop to see/confirm how much clearance I have, to decide what mid mufflers or 'resonators' (which are just straight through, narrower mufflers) I can add and hopefully cut out a lot of exhaust leaks, pinhole, v-band or otherwise. But first step will be to 'take a look' before the next step.
    • Fark the AFM card and Nistune, Haltech Nexus S3, DBW, cruise control, flex fuel, dis dat.
    • It's most likely the bolt/bush where the cover bolts back wore and allowed cover to move forward.
    • Still haven't put the injectors and R35 AFM in so we can tune the bloody thing for the HG highflow it got mid last year! I think I can forecast the upgrade path to a bigger twin scroll, external gate, Haltech, flex setup, Samsonas, dis dat, etc will be .... a while away!
