I drive past nearly every day and didn't see any car left near the Calwell shops area. Good to know it has been found, little worried that its close by and I didn't see anything..

Don't know if it was actually at the shops i just heard that it was in Calwell I'm new to Canberra and on the northside so have no idea where it actually was.

True, it might not have been near the shops, Calwell does back up onto Tuggerz hill in a random way with many side streets.

It should be noted the importance of keeping all valuables out of sight regardless of where you park, if you have a removable face-plate on the CD player - take it off! Keep personal items out of site, such as sunglasses or even spare change, and if you have a display for an ECU (such as the powerFC controller) mount it on some velcro and hide it away in the glove box when you park. Also if the car's a daily driver try to put grilles on after market speakers so they're not on display on the parcel shelf.

Don't mean to sound patronising but just a few simple precautions can help to avoid any issues. A few of my workmates have had their cars broken into in the same place i've parked my car for the last 2+ years, and the majority of them didn't do any of the above.
