hey guys as you know i did a turbo conversion on my R33 about a year ago now or more cant remember lol, it runs like a dream, have spend alot of money on it and it has around 180kw atw on 12 psi, it has bosch 023, toshi remap, Keas stage 2 shift kit, full exhaust, splitfire coilpacks and fmic, Black S2 Auto, 98,xxx km

i need some opinions, i am thinking of upgrading to a gtr and wana know if it would be better to sell the car as is or should i convert it back to NA and sell the parts etc... have been looking around and there are sooo many R33 Gtst's for sale that its not funny, and it seems people cant sell them even for 7k lol,

if i was to sell it as is i would probably put it up for $12.5k, or if i converted it back to NA maybe around the 10-11k mark,

what do you guys think, i am slightly getting over the car, and the more cheap R33s i see around the more i get over it, dream car has always been a R32 GTR, something about it jst screams tuff,

im up for a flaming lol, but if anyone wants to buy it as NA im happy to convert it back for the right price,

thanks

man theres no way you would get 12.5k for a automatic r33 gts+t

You can get clean manual gtsts for under 10k

I would be suprised if you could get over 8k as it is

although as you say, the demand for N/As is huge atm and you could probably get around the 9k mark as a n/a if the car is very clean with low kms.

lol, dude yes u can get a white gtst manual for 10k but i can guarantee you it wont be cleaner than mine, the interio is spotless and im a non smoker, the paint has a few scratches here n there but nuthing major,

and yes the car may be auto and a Gts+t but it is far more reliable than any other junk r33 under the 10k mark, it is not ur typical slow shifting auto, it has a keas shift kit which kicks the car out in second if you give it a bit, and the shifts are lightning quick,

its people like you that expect to find a good quality car for cheap that brings the market down, no offence, u see Gtst's for sale for 12k and people offer 5-6k, now thats a joke,

yeh wel c about converting it back to NA, id rather not go through all the trouble, as the car runs like a dream, it is very very responsive being high comp and the engine is very healthy, im the first owner in australia, and being an NA to begin with i can only assume it wasnt thrashed in japan as much as a turbo one would,

im in no hurry to sell it yet, so jst looking for options n opinions atm,

8k what a joke,

personaly id wait a little while till the market cools down a bit, now is this time to buy but not the time to sell. just to give you an idea, i just recently sold my r33 s2 n/a for 10k with the 2nd gear syncs fkd and the diff about to go :)

You have a nice setup there. Personally I'd keep is as a daily/backup car - because its a shame to sell it off for a low price (from what I read you have put a lot into that car) - And have the GT-R for weekends or if you feel like going for a blast....

Unfortunately the market is littered with cheap cars of everymake and any condition (good and bad) - its all related to supply and demand and its a buyers market at the moment.

I've also noticed the demand for grey imports "seem" to be getting lower from my own observation - possibly due to the poor exchange rate and people "growing out" of the "skyline phase" and moving to more family/practical cars - but as I say it's just my observation and cannot back it up with hard figures.

I wouldn't convert it back to N/A as it will cost you money and time in the process.

If your dead set on selling, best of luck with it all. :)

I think the price of skylines is vastly over-inflated. R33's in particular. In nine months, like every other car that has come before them they will depreciate. They aren't a classic car.

Unless demand increases drastically or supply decreases (aka people all crash them) the prices are just going to get lower. Get used to it. Look at the prices of soarers, HR31/DR30s, and just about any other late eighties, mid nineties period japanese sports car. Prices will only fall. They rarely increase and if they do its just because of increased demand due to some fad - look at what hapenned to SSS pulsars two years ago or so, they were selling for 10k! Ridiculous.

Most skylines are going on 15 or even 20 years old. In 2000 would you have paid 10 grand for a 1980 MR30?

Skylines have been overpriced for a while, and its only been a matter of time before the market realised it. The next 9 months will be bad in terms of depreciation - in particular for R33 owners.

thanks fellas,

converting it back to NA wouldn't be as costly as it was converting it to turbo caus i still have the NA parts lying around, it can be done in a weekend, i can then sell some of the turbo parts,

the only thing that i'm worried about is taking the risk of converting it and then not end up selling it,

its been doing my head in for a few weeks now, i dont wana spend anymore money on the car cosmetically, when i can put that money towards a GTR,

il suss out the demand for NA's, if i feel like there is a good chance of selling it as an NA il do the conversion back, but if not then im just gona keep it, because its not worth selling it for such a cheap price,

the p-plate laws havent helped the situation either, the demand for cars like skylines has plumetted, you now have people that are getting their ps buying small luxury cars like A4s, VW golfs and other cars that they can drive legally,

who else thinks that there is a big demand for NA R33s? there isnt many for sale on carsales... can only assume they get sold quick...

cheers

    • Hey lads, reviving an old thread.  As an update, since the last time replied to this thread, ive done mostly suspension. Havent touched the motor except for maintenance. Though upon changing spark plugs, found out i had splitfires pre-installed! Updates: - Got me some stock airbox top cover and snorkel to fit onto the original intake. Should be free of defects - Bought a set of R34 GT-T brakes (not installed yet, going to rebuild + respray in champion blue + white 'Nissan' text) - Bought the last set of bilsteins from @Sydneykid and had them installed. Has been making some sounds on the rear but hopefully should be sorted out after this New Year break. - Regreased front caster rod bushings (poly bushes..) - Rear upper camber arms - Whiteline sway bars (BNF27Z 22mm + BNR11XXZ 24mm).  The rear sway bars are a bit short (ive read 50mm else where) but was still able to get them in.  Anyhows, I reckon suspension is sorted now. Maybe replace bushes (do have a set of front upper control arms from SK not installed yet) but should be okay for now. From now, I'm wanting to start working on the motor, drivetrain etc etc. Still debating on the order to go on and what to buy etc but: - ECU ( Haltech or Link ( Link states that it dont support A/T or AWD functions... Can anyone attest to this? ) - Highflow turbo ( ATR43ss2 ) - Intercooler ( Not decided yet, but cant find many good afoordable ones. Toshi says to opt for crossflow Japanese. Bit difficult this one, unless I get a returnflow Blitz from JJ? ) - Injectors ( Any recommendations ? I do have a nismo FPR ( Thanks SK ) ) - Seats - Tune by either Toshi or DVS To be fair, I did consider just keeping the stock turbo and nistuning it. Sat in a mates stock N, that had something like 200kw, and I reckon that felt more than enough. Maybe I should just go this route ahhaha. Too many choices.... Planning a trip down south, so wanting to just clean things up and make sure it gets to and from in one piece. Anything else specifically I should do before ? Cheers lads
    • Must be for the car’s lucky charm 🤷🏽‍♂️ She runs fine, but it just seems to take about 1L less. Maybe I’ll have the oil sump dropped at some point to check if there is anything
    • Hmmm interesting. Mine is the exact same and clearly the right one.  The mystery of the engine oil being full after 3.5-4L continues
    • Yes I as well would like to find out where I could get some of the seat material with the red or blue small squares in it
