Advan_01 i think im in the same boat as you, ***kk i average about 160-180kmz for a 1/2 tank and around 310-320 for full tank and the only mod i have is a hks pod filter, but then again i alwayz fill up before the petrol light turns on as i get paronoid my car mite jus break down coz of no petrol in the middle of nowhere..hehe So i think if i reali push it i could make 350kmz.....but i aint got the guts to try dat hahha

ummmm shiiiit man...most of u guyz are getting prety low fuel consumptionz compared to mine...and i consider myself a economical driver...

grrr

I always drive my car until the needle is below the last line and most of the time its only 1 needle width above the top of the "E". Even at this point it has a good 5-7 Litres left which at normal driving is around 50-70km.

I always try and aim for 100km per quarter but the top half of the tank is much harder to do this than the bottom half of the tank :(

i went to s.a for the drift comp and on the way there i got 480k's outta the tank and still had a 1/4'ish left cos it only took 45l's to fill again

thats easy the best iv ever done and that also includes being pulled over and idling for about 10mins

benm: yeah i find that the first half of the tank goes much faster too. I heard someone say before that the indicator level on the tank isn't accurate as the tank is some sort of oblong shape.

Just wondering, my needle doesn't travel steadily. ie: it tends to jump big gaps. Like it doesn't move after round 40kms but as soon as i reach 50kms it suddenly jumps 1/4 tank and stays that way till i've done round 100kms? (slight exaggeration, but u get the pic). Does that happen to anyone else as well?

3" cat back & K&N Panel (stock box), else stock:

City (morning & arvo commute) - 380-410kms from 55litres

Country - just got 560kms from 3/4 tank! (est. 620kms from 55litres)

Fun - 180kms from 55 litres (80-90% WOT)

Always using BP Ultimate or Mobil 8000, wont touch Optismell.

for a comparison.

my 89 r32 gets around 12l/100 average city driving 2 up (215kg)

not sure on the highway, will check this weekend

from what i've read thus far, the 33's are supposed to have better fuel econ than the 32

dont like running the tank too low. ive heard sludge lives at the bottom of fuel tanks

I think that is a bit of a myth. Last time I looked in my fuel tank (when i change my fuel pump) it was pretty spotless. And you also have both a filter on the end of the fuel pump, and your standard fuel filter to suck up anything that *may* be in there.

Mine is 14L city (~420km), 12L/100km (~520km) country running 10psi. For what they are, they're not too bad. A v8 will have similar to worse figures.

Just came back from Mildura in my 33 gtr and averaged around 10.5 ltrs per 100 klms. Different story around town ( for some reason I drive it harder in the burbs )and I have never bothered to check the consumption but would drop about 100 klms on a full tank.

It's got a PFC, Apexi N1 cat back exh and AVO intercooler.

Worst ever was recorded with the old Link ECU and a bad tune. It used 25ltrs to go from Geelong to Ballarat ( approx 90 lkms I think ). I was chasing my mate in his Porsche so it was no economy run but fairly ordinary non the less!

Yeah, my worst was recorded with a bad tune and what appears to be a substandard ecu ( when compared to the PFC ).

It seems to me that a good tune will not only result in more power and better driveability but also better economy. The car in cruise mode just doesnt have to work as hard.

The guys who tuned the PFC on mine worked out that the car in cruise mode only needs about 10kw to keep it moving, I assume at around 100-110 kph.

Does that happen to anyone else as well?
Yup I have this problem also. When I left Canberra (headed for Sydney) on Sunday afternoon I was 1 needle line below 1/2 and thought that was pretty damn good mileage but by the time I got onto the Federal Hwy (10km) it was only 1 needle above the 1/4 line and thats where it sat for most of the trip home.

I found my gauge can get sticky of I don't drive it for a little while, last time I left it parked with a full tank the needle stayed on the full mark till the tank was nearly empty and then fell. It improved with some more refills later on and now it smooth again. The R32 used to do it as well after sitting for a week or more.

As for economy, best I got from my stock auto R33 25t was actually last week which was exactly 10km/ltr, and before that I think the previous best was something lowly like 8km/ltr. Worsts been been about 6km/ltr...

0h more thing with fuel gauges, the R33 has this weird setup which is basicaly along tube with float, which clips in on the front of the tank (on an angle), I've known them to come loose which may give erract readings...

What is going on here? I have a 93 magna (it aint no skyline, but im only 18 and it was on the cheap) and you'd think it'd be a little more economical than a skyline, being a 4 cyl and all. It uses about the same as what you people are saying your skylines are using. This is all highway driving too.

I dont think i'll be listening to anyone who says turbo cars gulp down fuel as much anymore....
