The hole in the Ozone layer covers most of the Antartic...

...if you gut your cat, the worldwide sea level will rise by 3.5m... killing 220,000,000 people, and displacing 100,000,000 households.

Removing the material inside your catalytic converter on the other hand...

why dont u go to ur local exhaust shop and get them to make u a replacement pipe for the cat

remove the cat, install the new pipe and see the difference.

just dont get pulled over by rta or epa and if so hope to god they dont find the cat missing...........

or u could get an exhaust shop to make u up a fake cat ie.cat surround welded to a straight through pipe.

I dont know WHY i took a foto of it..

Bloody evil kitten it is

Oh right. I thought you had already removed the insides of your cat-converter... rhetorical question...

ohok.. true... i just felt like hitting something with a hammer.. if i got performance gains out of it 4 my car, then bonus...

I dont think i will worry about it then.. If i cant afford a high flow cat at the moment then i cant afford the fine.

Leave it alone, they get replaced as part of compliance so it won't be clogged up and causing a restriction.

If you gut it you won't get much gain as it won't flow very nice, also the car will be louder and and smelly.

yer i just saw the idea somewhere, i forget where tho.. I just thought i should ask some intellegent ppl b4 i got waving a hammer around..

So il just leave it be then..

But while we are on the topic of cats, do high flow cats improve flow much more then stock ones?

People usually refer to a $10k fine, never heard of it being issued though - so could be an urban myth. In any case, not worth tempting anyway. On many (modern) cars, removing or gutting the cat will only provide a very minimal increase. My car (the one I modify anyway) is not one of those, but it is also not a skyline.

And as noted, don't bother unless you can put up with the stench of fuel inside your car (not pleasant).
