I helped out fitting a Vi-PEC V88 to this car....Tuned by Vi-PEC guru Mark Jacobsen at Godzilla Motorsport. It runs 18 1600cc injectors...yes 18!! and on Sunday ran 6.71 @ 204 MPH and 60'd 1.021 (average boost level throughout the run was less than 39psi)....off the trailer and later ran a PB MPH of 209 MPH!

It idles at 1200 rpm like a baby....try that sh1t with even a MoTeC M800...lol

If we have time prior to this weekends race meeting we are removing the MoTeC from Marks 7 second GTR and 'upgrading' to a Vi-PEC.

Vi-PEC is by far the best ecu on the market.

Wholly crap thats insane. Can't wait to get my ViPec installed.

My GTR idles higher than that with a D-Jetro.

Dirt have you experienced any problems with the Hypertune 100mm Throttle Body on your set up? I'm not sure if this is what is causing my high idle woes.

ask however is going to tune it what they would prefer to tune and setup

no good picking HKS FCON etc if you cant find anyone that will tune it or tune it a reasonable cost

everyone these days will recommend the ecu's they are used to tuning. my engine builder hadn't had ANY experience with the vipec and as he wanted to do the initial tune on the car he was very surprised as to how well it worked. his words, after a while of using it he said it was pretty easy to get used to and "the figures he was guessing were just about right" in regards to the figures he was about to load the car up onto.

most places your not going to be able to get the vipec installed & tuned for under 2500-2600, so wouldn't exactly call it cheap lol. Still I like mine.

if you get the plug in board you can do it yourself as long as you have a timing light. the tune will cost the same as every other ECU out there. $2500-$2600 sounds right for any ECU in the vipec's price range.

No problems at all...the Vi-PEC is a master at idle control with an 8meg processor dedicated to the function.

serious question

i am about to put an m800 into my car to replace the microcrap

what does the vipec have that the m800 doesnt regardless of price i havent paid for anything so i can go either way

i need 12 injector drivers

the car is running a crank trigger

also runs 7 egts

& plenty of dataloging

cheers Jason

hey jase be sure to look into the LINK G4 extreme too as well as the VIPEc as they are the same thing, gives you a few more places to source from.

The LINK / Vipec does'nt have anything over the M800 but, unlike the M800 where you need to enable options etc the LINK / VIPEC is mostly enabled out of the box. The M800 will always be better as an out out ecu but for most guys they will never use a 1/3 of its capabilities and unless the tuner is well versed in Motec tuning it can be extremely daunting and easy to end up with an ass tune.. Put simply if you pull a M800 and fit another ecu and the car goes better point the finger at the tuner, NOT the ecu.

If money / time was'nt a consideration we would have M800's in our own cars but it is  so i settled for LINK G4's.

I found the best thing about these ecu's is the tune time vs result is extremely good, they require far less fiddling to get excellent results.

shall i post up both spec sheets to make your above post look silly? Vi-PEC has a larger and faster processor than the MoTeC for starters.

It was only a matter of time before you came on here flying the Link flag...you cant make a buck out of vi-pec much to your annoyance (shall i post a few pm's you sent me?) but you can make $$ out of Link so you love to flog them.

You have also touted about how successful you have been in business and how much money you have made...but now money is an issue....so which one is it?

Trent, if you want a cheap MoTeC contact Insight Motorsports in Sydney...Scott has a few from cars that have upgraded to Vi-PEC. Marks will also be up for sale in a few weeks out of his drag car if you are interested.

Jason, give Mark a call before you waste a lot of $$...im here in qld at the moment and can install it for you...i can send you some pics to show you the high standard of my wiring. I recommend a Vi-PEC V88, twin M&W Drag 6 igniters and M&W coils...ive done 2 of these instals since ive been up here on both the Wedlock car and a drag VL thats soon to debut.

lets not get silly as i have the pm's from you asking me if i could supply LINKS at a better rate than VIPEC... (my annoyance with vipec was early their dealer in victoria held no stock, didnt plan on holding stock and had no trade structure.... all this before i realised they were rebadged LINKS anyway)

i dont fly any ecu flag as i dont have a vested interest in a particular company like you. i take each application and budget and reccomend to suit the customer. Obviously you or your tuner is more comfortable with the VIPEC than Motec. I just dont think its fair to pummel Vipec down everyones throat when at the end of the day its just another ECU.... abeit a very good one.

Personally, standing next to an Evo 8 listening to try and find idle with a Motec M800 was enough to put me off. While it went up and down like a yo-yo my GTR was purring at 800rpm... with a Vipec V88

Its a vi-pec thread for fcuks sake !!

thats what it is about...why would i talk about the Links you sell when the original poster wanted Vi-PEC info....you are the one flogging your Link horse everytime the word Vi-PEC is mentioned.

I never asked you to supply me Links...just wanted to know what you were paying for them...get it right pal.

You should see the timing move around when you put a timing light on a MoTeC powered EVO...its a joke..this is why Scott now has a stack of 2nd hand MoTeC's he doesnt really even want to sell to the EVO guys. Watching the MoTeC try and guess crank postion is laughable.

My own drag car would never idle properly with a Power FC or an Autronic SM4...Installed a Vi-PEC V88...purrs like a kitten after a bowl of warm milk.

blame the tuner not the ecu.... ive seen a plugin M800 in an evo which was spot on.... the new evo 10 is a bit problematic atm as it loses ayc and abs, but im sure its only a matter of time b4 its fully sorted.

Actually on that Dirt (off the top of your head) do you know if Vipec (link) has a evo 10 ecu sorted yet? (ABS EYC wise)

If money and time was no object id love to get my hands on some PCS (Pectel Control Systems) gear....

thanks fellas i was just curious because i havent found to many people using them in the track cars round perth... there all using power FC but yes i will be puting in the vipec as soon as i do my turbo upgrade

haay for u guys who know ecus i currently have a Apexi FAFC2 but i understand its useless once i haave the new ecu in but i would like to keep it wired in so i can use its Knock sensor feature to moniter engine... is it possible

    • Pre-empting heat management  1. The Kraken manifold will be ceramic coated 2. Just purchased some peel and stick heat shielding stuff from car builders, I'll cover some of the firewall behind the dump and a little on the cam cover, this will be done prior to installation as I have ample room to get where I need to now before that realestate has more bits in the way, I'm also planning to modify the OEM heat shield to go back on, but that won't happen until after installation so I know where to hack it up, I'll also cover it with some some peel and stick to neaten it up after the hacking 3. As the dump is stainless with a flex joint coating isn't really a option, and wrapping isn't recommended for a stainless dump, so once it is installed I'll grab some shielding from car builders to cover the dump, as it has some stand off, it "shouldn't" cause any issues and it "should" just keep the radiant heat away from " melty engine bay stuff" Not for heat management, but I've grabbed some more black crinkle coat to paint all the shiny intake pipes, I'll pick the pipe work up prior to installation and use the paint booth and big oven at work to cure them, I'll then wrap them with some bubble wrap so they stay nice during installation

    • YO- have been searching and searching for an a31 chassis plug pinout, or someone who knows which wire is for tach.  ceffy was flooded past dash during a hurricane.  having an electrical gremlin appear. tach is wonky reading consistent with a short, and on occasion the right side of my speedo lighting will flicker just for a second then go back to normal.  if no pinout available does anyone know if the tach harness opens or branches anywhere behind the dash? im suspecting a possible root behind the radio as there are more shorts in that area on the accessory loop.
