Hmmm

8500 for car

1000 for major mech service when I got it, including new clutch, flywheel, fluids, filters, etc

150 for new clutch pedal bracket (oem one snapped after new clutch went in, welded this one for extra strength)

800 for Coilies (Stock passenger shock was leaking)

200 for Hicas lockbar and gearknob.

300 for insurance.

550 for timing belt service inc. cam seals, idler, tensioner etc. full fluid swap.

400 for coilpacks.

Thats just the stuff I had to purchase, throw some sparkplugs in there as well. Consider also 90% of the labour is done by me or a mate.

Ive spent a bunch on other things for it as well but they weren't vital to the cars operation so you don't really need to consider it.

Edit: Forgot to mention 800 for tyres,

You guys all make owning a skyline sound expensive and crazy.

I Got...

R33 - 15k

Insurance - $800 per year / $250 excess (Shannon's)

If you need repairs, ask Dad for a loan, get a second job or sell it.

Simple, by it, insure it (comprehensive) and drive it.

Do it mate, your only young once.

Blinky

Well they are kind of more expensive than normal cars lol!

My R34 cost $20k, which is a fairly decent price compared to what i was looking at.

Had to change the timing belt, oil, get a new battery, change fan belts etc

Which came to cost for the products (few hundred?) because my dad and uncle helped.

But insurance was $1500 as well!

And i havent even begun to mod it!

And i put in around $50-$60 every week and a half for fuel, because its my daily (but not really driven too far) but i mean on weekends ill take it for a pretty decent drive eg up to Zig zag then back down to freo etc

I love my car, i wouldnt trade it for anything, except maybe a R34GTR or R35GTR :P

I'd recommend buying one, just as long as you can afford it! Because the price of the car drops pretty much with every new owner!

As for insurance, I'd never drive a car without insurance, but it's not me that i don't trust! There are some really ignorant/complacent/unobservant idiots out on the road...

Plus you MAY want to factor in a radar detector OR money for speeding fines or when the cops decide they want to bust you...

Only had my car for a month so far, so im not saying that i know everything these is to know, because i definitely dont! i just thought id add that in!

But a summary is, the cars are great, especially if you take care of them, just make sure you think of EVERY possibility which may require large sums of money in short amounts of time!!!
