Hey all was wondering wat turbo would be better for a street application wit the ability to goto the track an tear it up on a weekend?? i currently have the gt2860 (-7) an am makin 450hp atw.. are they capable of more?? cause they have amazing response an make a nice street car.. or would it be appropriate to bump up to something bigger such as the gt-rs! to see atw figures of 500-550hp. An are the gt-rs really as laggy as ever1 makes them out to be??

thanks korey

Are you on a stock stoke 26? If so i dont think RS's would be the right turbo for a street set up. Even myself on a high compression 2.8 litre im sometimes wishing for slightly smaller turbo's because im caught "off boost".... Gets retuned this week so see how much better it is. 2530's at the biggest on a stock motor IMO.

Well that was the other option the hks stroker 2.8lt, but your sayin that your even caught off boost occasionally wit that set-up?? i was talkin about the 2.6 but strokin it was another option if i went the Gt-rs.. wat are the 2530's equivelent to?? the gt-ss?? the gt2860's are slightly larger yeah? with the set up your runnin being stroked wat rpm is boost coming on wit the gt-rs's on??

^^

Last tune it was 1.65 bar at 4700 RPM. However, I will reply again on friday and its getting retuned. Alot of stuff has changed (catback, plenum, boost controller, better cat) so I have a feeling this will drop a few hundred RPM. The catback made a HUGE difference (kakimoto Full Mega N1) Its going as good as what it was before on 1.3 bar. Going up a hill in 2nd gear with 3 people in the car and jump on the loud pedal at 6500 RPM and it will break traction. Give me 5 days :(

Mate - ive said before... Please use the search.

GT-SS, GT-RS and every other bolt on turbo from garrett/hks for a RB26 is soooo well covered you really need to do a bit of your own homework rather than have people spoon feed you.

Once you do search, you will find there is a turbo in between GT-SS & GT-RS - The Garrett "-5"/HKS 2530... more info on that specific turbo than any other on the forum

Thanks.

    • I would again like too thank Matt for his help in me sourcing the detachable hard top for the little red car, without Matt's assistance in inspecting it and locking it down, I can guarantee it would have sold before I could get up to see it,  and as that was the only available NC hardtop in Australia, I consider myself extremely lucky on multiple levels To say I'm more that happy would be an understatement And, it is 100% water tight, I drove through torrential rain coming back south, and by torrential, they type of rain that doing 40kph in a 110kph zone was a real thing, and even then, the standing water on the Hwy was deep enough to throw waves I'm also more than happy that the huge "BEASTS" that Matt calls dogs didn't eat me for lunch, I'm sure the sniffs and licks were more to "taste test" me, over being to friendly Now to work out what colour to get it painted, panel match, or gloss black........first world problems are real
    • Actually I might have figured out. Looks like there is a tab according to google images but it's hidden. Silly me.
    • No clips on this one like the other connector. Only that red tab that I can push slightly up.
    • For any loom connector that has an obvious release that resists pushing far enough to unclip, just spray some silicone lube into it. You might also benefit from using a bent screwdriver or small pick to push in the right place at the right angle.
    • Hey all, I went to try and fix my indicator not canceling, but I couldn't remove the clockspring cable under the column so I could twist that green thin. Anyone know how to remove this cable? I see this red tab but didn't have any luck. I was thinking of unscrewing it but wasn't sure if it would cause issues. I did notice for my indicator stalk, 2 out of 3 cables were plugged in but the last cable wouldn't fit in the stalk. I'm getting it's for fog lights. It was like this when I originally pulled it off.
