Morgs
Calder October 10, 2003 NIZPRO BA XR6 TURBO LETS LOOSE with an 11.73 At 125.90 mph. Nizpro debuted their Acid Rush BA XR6 Turbo sedan at Calder Raceway on October 10, 2003 intent on some ‘shake down’ passes, noting that Nizpro staff were specifically interested in data logging to ensure that whatever changes that may be required, could be easily implemented in the future. Vehicle modifications consist of Nizpro’s Stage One XRT300 power-up kit (custom powder coated high-flow CNC machined inlet manifold, cast alloy thermostat housing, powder coated cast alloy rocker cover, cast alloy 100mm inlet tube, K&N pod filter, cold air-box, high-flow tube and fin intercooler with lightweight aluminium end tanks, compact dry-cell Odyssey battery and battery box), along with upgraded fuel injectors, and a MoTeC M800 ECU. For a 4-litre Ford engine that is surprisingly close to stock internally to deliver a potent 426 kilowatts through the wheels on a DynoLogic chassis dynamometer, Nizpro had also to replace the restrictive catalytic converter (in an otherwise factory exhaust system), along with a high-flow fuel pump replacing the factory item. 245mm wide Nitto road/race tyres were also fitted to an otherwise stock vehicle (including the factory turbocharger) that weighed in at 3918 pounds at an independent weight station. Traction proved a problem, as did the diff ratio that resulted in the Falcon hitting the factory imposed 5700rpm rev limiter by Calder’s 1100-foot mark. However the Nizpro team were quite happy with the information provided by the data logging, and also drove away happy with the knowledge that they had just set the fastest ever time for a BA Falcon Turbo with a respectable 11.73 @ 125.90 mph. Nizpro’s Simon Gishus stated that having established a base line, and become aware of all potential problems, that he will make specific modifications to ensure the vehicle meets or at least goes close to meeting its potential at the next outing. Using the traditional Drag Racing formula (speed over mass over distance), it showed that wheel spin and hitting the rev limit had resulted in a loss of approximately 3-4 mph off the terminal speed, with the top end charge indicative of a run perfect 10.6 second pass. SS8_Gohan
Very, very cool I'd love to see a 2 Door, XR6-T, something around the 1500kg mark, or just in the 1600kg. I reckon they would sell like hot cakes!! Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/27273-nizpro-xr6t-into-the-11s/#findComment-573360 Share on other sites
Guest INASNT
Wonder how the powerup kits effect the warranty when u tow back the car to ford with the engine in a million pieces after the stock internals get fried at 400rwkw. Ronin 09
internals aside... can anyone say "gearbox spread over 400m"? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/27273-nizpro-xr6t-into-the-11s/#findComment-573958 Share on other sites
Dj laBBy
Its good to see that that car is able to make that sort of power with that little development thus far. Its alos interesting to note that the underated gearbox has lived and shows it potential. it will just be interesting to see just how long it will live..... Roy
If i see an XR6T come at auctions that has been rear ended, then i can see a FORD powered 240Z sitting in my driveway. Nizpro do good work, friends 200SX engine setup is courtesy fo them and it definitley performs. Im assuming it was an auto... its scary the potential of some company cars Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/27273-nizpro-xr6t-into-the-11s/#findComment-574290 Share on other sites
HSVKLR
Awesome!!! Was only a matter of time before someone put an XR6T into the 11s! Congrats to Nizpro. Was just reading before in the latest ZOOM that they have their XR6T up to 260rwkw with way more to go. APS have theirs up to 511hp@fly and SHV have theirs at 400kw at the flywheel..... impressive figures. DaiOni
I wonder how many people here have forgotten that it's forced induction + big capacity. Has winner written all over it. Zensoku
This is what separates the Japanese sports cars with the Aussie built performance cars. The Ford XR6 Turbo "Barra" project was undertaken with a very small budget in the hope to boost (no pun intended) some showroom sales against the popular Commodore SS's.... ...and this shows, no money was spent on the R&D for a stronger driveline. Ford are STILL using Borg Warner hardware. A T5 manual gearbox, BTR auto's and weak BW 2 pinion diffs. It's great to see that people like Chiptorque, Nizpro, CAPA and others are making impressive numbers on both the dyno and track by defeating the ECU's abuse/protection modes, but it's a shame the weak drivelines let these cars down. Don't believe a word they say. Driven their purple ute and it's a pile of shit. Sonic
An SP20. It's a daily driver for insurance purposes as a 1966 Skyline ain't the most comfy car to trundle freeways in (damn no air con, p/steer, etc). Seeing as the Skyline bit the dust, the Mazda is also doubling as weekend play-thing Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/27273-nizpro-xr6t-into-the-11s/#findComment-575015 Share on other sites
