Hey guys,

I have found a supplier in the USA that can supply Haltech ecu's CHEAP.

Give you an example, Tweakit here in Australia lists their SPORTS2000 RB25DET Plug n Play kit for $2345 AUD, 'siverturbo' on www.ebay.com (US) listed the identical kit for USD $1620.99, which is AUD $2025.10 converted over to the Aussie dollar. Take a look for yourselves:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...T&viewitem=

This is a proper Ebay store with all the other popular Haltech ecu's in the range listed as well.

NOW WHAT I WANT TO KNOW IS, HOW THE F*#K CAN A SUPPLIER IN AMERICA SHIP AN AUSSIE MADE UNIT BACK TO US HERE IN OZ $300+ CHEAPER THAN WHAT THEYRE SELLING THEM HERE AT HOME ????? JUDGE FOR YOURSELVES.

lol good find!

Couple of things to consider:

1. The US guy probabley sells more Haltechs in a month that tweakit do in a year hence can buy at a better rate (or may be prepared to sell at a lower margin).

2. There would be GST in the tweakit price (213.18... roughly) - if the haltech got valued at customs at its true market value (unlikely) you would be up for another couple of hundred at least (customs entry and GST, depending on what tariff they use you may be up for even more).

3. Buying locally can be worth it in the long run (even if you pay a little more) just in case you need some help with the product you purchased...

That being said - I know, it seems wrong that Aussie products can be bought cheaper in the US...

Just my 2c

99% of the time when I buy stuff from the US, I request the seller to declear the item as a 'gift' when sending it, that way... NO CUSTOMS TAX, NO GST...... Just before the Aussie dollar crashed a few months back, I brought 9 Autometer COBALT gauges from a seller over there, e.g. I paid $220 AUD for a Wideband airfuel gauge that goes for over $600 here. The lucky thing was, they arrived exactly 3 days before the dollar crashed ! lol

Also, I checked with Haltech here in Western Sydney, they said providing I can supply the details of the distributor (here or overseas), they will provide FULL technical support and warranty as long as its a geunine Haltech unit.

I hear what you are saying... but really.... autometer?

I hear what you are saying... but really.... autometer? :D

Nothing wrong with Autometer, I've got six 52mm Cobalt gauges mounted on a 3-DIN carbon panel along with 4 rocket-launcher switches (for the 044 pumps and water sprayer etc) instead of the aircon/stereo/tray setup, also a boost and fuel pressure on the pillar and the tacho on the steering column.... along with the cage, gives the whole 'race car' feel.

Also, the wideband airfuel gauge has a dedicated output wire to hook up to the ECU that you can configure to the correct voltage output range to suit. It made all the difference when tuning the PowerFC Ive got at the moment.
