Exhaust rubber mounts!!!

I am trying to take the standard muffler off and install my HKS item back on but having a lot of trouble with the rubber mounts(three of the buggers) that the muffler is attached to the body with at the rear of the car. As easy as it sounds i cant get the farkers off!!! I have tried levering them off, used various sizes of screwdrivers and even yanked on them but to no avail.

If anyone has a trick or knows how to get them off please do tell!!

the hooks are attached by bolts i think,

i unbolted the hooks then put the rubber on then tightend it up

on mine only one rubber mount is bolted to the car, which i undid, but the two other hooks are welded to the car...these two are giving me the hassle...

yeah they can be a bitch to take off, my mechanic was cursing hahah coz the havent been off in years so when he tried it, it wouldnt budge

i think he sprayed something on it (similar to WD40) and left it awhile after which it came off with still a fair amount of 'persuasion'

vaseline! lube it up

seriously this is what i used...i had some aheeem handy

they slipped right off

yeah i was gonna use grease but couldnt find it in the garage...all i found was some Mobil one but i didnt want to make a mess with it dribbling all over the place...

i will see if i can find some vaseline in the bathroom and lube up!!

I had the same prob recently. I figured I wasn't going to be using the stock muffler again anyway, so I got the grinder out and cut those "arrow" tips off the muffler supports. It slid out with ease after that.

yeah i thought about doing that also...but i wanna be able to use the stock muffler if needed in the future...

the mechanic i went to used (as previously mentiond) a wd40 type spray and then were leaverd off using a flat head screw driver

Best way is to spray some wd40 or similar in there and any oil/grease u may have.... then use your muscles.... i also have a big snap on pry bar that does wonders..
