they are NGK PFR6A-11 for my R32 GTST RB20DET - running 14psi

they are gapped at .8

was just concerned as the turbo I replaced looked like this which is a 16V RB20 turbo which made some pretty shit noises under boost

do the plugs look ok? i wasnt sure if they looked lean or not, they are slighly sooty around the outside of the thread and its a tan colour at the end even accross cylinders, car runs and performs fine but yeh just wanted a second opinion

A couple of things spring to mind:

Running too lean.

Running too hot.

Excessive amount of additive in your fuel.

dont use any additive, only 95 pump fuel

[GTS-t VSPEC]

I've found the additives make the plugs look organge. White plugs tend to indicate that the AFR's are too lean. Best bet is to put it on a dyno, and get the AFR's measured. It may be something as simple as a stuffed fuel pump.

yeah high octane fuel because of additives make the turbine / plugs look yellow / orange.

that car is running a bit lean by the looks of things.

clean AFM, upgrade pump and check

Turn that boost down and get a bigger pump. Cheap as piss these days.

FYI Platinum Plugs arent worth the extra money as they last no longer and give no benefits over regular plugs in a modified engine. BKR6E or similar will do the trick just fine.

Also, use 98ron fuel.

car has a brand new 040 pump, has new oxy sensor and i have cleaned the AFM, car was running bulk rich before I replaced the oxy sensor.. AFR was around 12 on last dyno, il be doing another one just to be safe on the AFR's

to read the plugs you need to do a full power/full revs run and shut the engine off at the top of the run. then remove the plugs to read them. if you let the car return to idle, or just drove normally before removing the plugs then it wont be as meaningful.

Exactly, driving around on 15.5:1 will make plugs look like that, but be fine for cruising
