I just bought a Trust full auto turbo timer, and in the instructions, it says it sets the run time dependant on the engines RPM, this sounds good but there is no connection or wires that connect to the RPM signal.

I am thinking that the voltages it receives in the ignition connector must vary on a linear scale dependant on RPM, does this sound right?

There is the normal ignition wires, a speedo one and the manditory handbrake connector, and a connector it says is only to be used in JAPAN called a 'shift lock release unit' (which i am assuming has something do do with an AUTO transmission)

any help about how it gets the rpm signal, or what a 'shift lock release unit' is would be much appreciated.
