If you have a look thru the forced induction section you will find many have boost creep problems with anything smaller than the .82 exhaust housing using the Gt3076R internal waste gate version.

You can buy the "real" gt3076R .82 IW in kit form for $3070 from GCG. Does not include the compressor inlet pipe.

I paided $1800 for the turbo. For all the extra bits need will be another $700-800

excuse my ignorance but from what i can see on GCG site, as you say you buy turbo then choose your exhuast housing and then buy all the flanges and lines ect......

Im guessing the models that get the boost creep are the "GCG built" hiflows? rather then the garret built turbo's?

Generally any Gt3076R IW with a turbine housing smaller than the .82 have had boost creep problems

The GCG kit is the garret built turbo and comes with new lines, dump pipe and manifold spacer and bolts. Just need to fab the front inlet pipe. GCG does not have the kit on their site.

Tweakit do the same kit for $2460 but does not include the dump. They are $325 in S/S or $225 in mild.

Gt3076r are sold without the rear housing for approx $1100-1300 and then you can had the rear IW garrett housing for $ rrp $780 or less. The ext WG housings are a bit cheaper.

Be careful, there are different types of the GT3076R. The "real" one is the 700382-12 or 700382-5012 with a CHRA 700177-7 and a .60ar compressor housing with 4 inch anti surge inlet.

If you are interested email or phone GCG. They used to list the highflows c/w specifications and prices. I gave them an RB25 turbo and they gave it back to me after about 3 day turnaround as a ball bearing steel wheeled highflow with all new parts for around $1850 and it went straight in with no fabrication needed. I had supplied it with a RB20 actuator (10psi against the stock 7psi) and have a jaycar boost controller. It boosts very quickly and holds 16psi no trouble. I am not an expert on turbos and all the numbers quoted by those with more experience mean little to me. I am very happy with my turbo but I am aware from others who have bought the 3076 (R?) that they produce even more power.

I use RB20 act on my R34 turbo now . So do you know that actual specs on the GCG hiflow? the turbo you sent away for hiflowing did it come back as a 3076R on just a re-cored and steel wheeled RB25 turbo.

I will email GCG to find out some more info too.

Here is the reply from GCG about my highflow:

"1) We use the factory bearing housing and modify it, we do not use a Garrett "cartridge" as such to replace the internals.

2) Exhaust wheel = Stage 3 T3

3) Compressor wheel = T04E

4) A/R is same as the factory housings that come on the vehicle from Nissan, we do not modify, or touch any of the external housings on this unit.

As we are the only people who can build these units in ball bearing, we don't like to give away too much detail, i'm sure you can understand.

All I can add is that they were rated at 450hp. I am up to about 360hp and I am getting 550 injectors and a Z32 AFM and then I will turn up the boost and get a tune and see what it does then. The GCG highflow boosts hard from the mid 2000 and can reach 16psi (my intended maximum) by 3000rpm. I think that for the price (under $2000) they are ideal for auto Stageas for people who don't want to rebuild the engine with forged rods, pistons etc and because they slot back in wihout need for new manifolds, wastegates, water or oil lines and for their stock appearance.

What is funny is Bob who was keen on the GCG highflow now runs a 3540...

GCG highflow was great - got 245awkw and probably could have made 260 but now installing an RB30 (long and boring delays ...) and looking for better than 300awkw with poss more later!

    • I was more thinking so it doesn't flop around as much rather than for rotating it. Once you have the balance right, it should rotate well enough, depending on how much resistance there is on the pivot. I think you said the pivot point was on a bearing though didn't you?
    • You can get them with the worm drive rotator but I was too tight to pay another $250-$300 so manual labour it is! I don't think it will be too hard to rotate though. 
    • Sag as in the windows start to slowly open themselves, or they're just slow to go up/down with engine off?
    • It looks like it needs a big worm gear drive on it to control the rotating, not a few sloppy pins!
    • As Duncan said, first there was OBD, which few cars used, then came OBD2.   Now an interesting point, OBD2 isn't even for what you want to do. OBD2 is for emissions testing. There is some sensor data on OBD2, but it's up to the manufacturer what they're putting on it. Most scan tools operate on UDS, which like OBD2 is a standard built on-top of CAN. UDS specifies how to structure a message, what very limited things mean such as "read memory address" but it does not specify what is stored in which memory address, that is all up to the manufacturer. You either a scan tool compatible with that vehicle, or to know how to reverse engineer all the data, which can take a VERY long time and a lot of vehicles to get it right. Oh and then the manufacturer does a firmware update and changes what's where... Ask me how I know that as fact Oh, and by the time you've got the scan tool that supports all the manufacturers stuff, well, you're back at "But a consult cable and the Nissan software" The main difference being most manufacturers software these days works with the same hardware readers, as the readers are built to support J2534 which is another standard for how the PC communicates with the tool to make it do specific things on the car...
