Stagea In Nz Performance Car

Don't know if you can get "NZ Performance Car" in Aus but the latest issue has "Methamphetamachine's" Rs260 on the cover and an extensive article inside with excellent photos. Simon has posted a few times with details of his build but it is a truly wonderful piece of detailed work. It still looks pretty stock on the outside even though it has steel flares to accommodate the 10in wide wheels - a rather nice set of Rays. I have yet to see it on the track but those who have say it is just as fast as you would expect. I think the 11 second 1/4 mile is just a reflection of the owner's lack of interest in dragging - i believe it was done in full road going trim with street tyres - and it would easily make the 10sec bracket if not better.

As a side note I see that it is controlled by a HKS F Con rather than a PFC or LINK. We are lucky to have at least three or four really top tuners in Auckland including Soichi Tate, formerly of Nissan in Japan, who is among other things an expert on HKS F Con.

Sweet, looks like it's got real nice curves... oh and the car looks bonza too :D

You're quite right. It is called a 260Rs in the article. I guess people just get used to saying RB20 RB25 RB30 and then RS260. My ultimate Stagea would be a 260RS RB32 (RIPS are working on their 3.2L RB30 development).

When i go back to NZ next remind me to pop into RIPS!!!

(family over there, so need to go see them at some point)

I now have the T51 on it. Getting the dump pipe modified and a few other little things, as well as a new ignition system, and it'll be off for a retune.

The drag run was done in full trim (incl all stereo etc), on street tyres. I had no traction in first or second. I got traction when I changed into third, but lost it again at about 6,000RPM in third. Still crossed the line doing over 200 though :D

I didn't drag it last season as I was still playing with the car. If I can get some semi decent tyres (I do not want drag slicks or anything, just some donor semi's would be OK) I'll take for a blat this season and see what it does with the new setup.

Have to defaintly agree with that one of the sexist cars on the road.

And what a great exmaple of a well built stag in every aspect. PSYMIN is a really well built sleeper and one sexy stag.

That's true ,specially for this ride...been watching it since I started in this forum(allways thought the same it's the hell of a ride)love every aspect of it...

You can say that there are a couple of things that can decide if you choose a stag ...between them are PSYMIN and the stagea snow launch on youtube...

So ,what can I say...SIMON I salute you... :)

Cheers. It was a very interesting build. There was no info around when I first started, and designated stagea parts were nigh on impossible to find. MOST stuff is just 33R, but a few things are variants and others use 33R parts but are slightly different eg the intercooler hard piping kits.

The best was the suspension. Front is 33R. Easy. The rear takes a 33R shock and spring with an R32 top hat. Fortunately my friend had an old naffed set of adjustable bilsteins from his 32 sitting there, so I got the top hats but had to machine them as the Bilstein spring was a different diameter and thickness to what I needed.

1 entire day to swap rear shocks....

I also have 3 point adjustable rear lower A arms coming, and will soon order a 1 piece drive shaft as you do not get the entrance and exit losses through the additional join. Although, logically, it does not increase the power at the engine, due to less loss, it will register more at the wheels.
