Petrol Tank Lid Won't Close

Hey guys,

My petrol tank lid won't close, I'm scared someone might steal my fuel or sabbotage it.

How do I fix this? Do I need a new mechanism etc?

Is there a spring-loaded latch that won't come out far enough to fit into the hole on the striker plate?

Pretty much, like there is no apparent mechanism for the lid to latch on to (looks like its collapsed or fallen out?)

Yes, the release cable has probably broken. You might be able to get a replacement from a wrecker, otherwise your friendly NISSAN dealer.

If the latch remains depressed, then the cable may be broken as stated ^^^

But if the striker plate is gone/fallen off then, until you can get a replacement and weld it on, I'd use 'Blue-Tack' to hold it flush and use a plastic knife to open it for refills.

I had to bend my striker plate once so that the latch would catch.

ah ok looks like the cable is snapped.

Will have to chase it up with wreckers first.
