New place .... Driveway Assistance :)

Guys this is going to sound really stupid, but how the hell do you get out of a driveway where both the road and the driveway are sloping in to one another ? Anyone have any special tricks to share ?

I just picked up two 2ft x 1ft panels of 10mm thick checkerplate that weigh in a tad on 15kgs each .... hopping in and out of the car is getting to be a bit of a bitch tho

My quick and easy solution:

3 x bags of quick-dry cement.

Try and take it on the widest angle possible. i.e don't go straight back, but pull down and take it as wide as possible.

Hehehe, yeh car is insured and on the road now hehehe, just working on a few things at the moment but other than that it's good to go

Just moved to a bigger place, and although the cement sounds like a good idea, it's in a block of 120 places sooooo it may be a little hard to pull off with people coming in / out all day ....

Taking it wide is what I would usually do and get the tyre in first then out, however I have dickheads who decide to park right next to the driveway (usually hanging 30cms into it) which makes taking the angle impossible ........ I guess my front bar is doommed !!

Ive seen people get two large bits of metal and bolt it into the ground, this usually helps.. give her a go.

How wide is the driveway? Just drift through it sideways...

i would steel some witches hats from you local council, then get a deck chair, do the cementing, and put the witches hats aorund it, set the deck ahir up for a couple of hours infront.. and if anyone walks up to you saying move, say, your doing them a favor, out of your own pocket, crap on about the cost.. then they will piss off

Jimbo,,,you are reversing down the driveway,,,yea. Birty's right,,,,get the angles happening buddy....and maybe get some pieces of wood,,like 1 x 4's,,,lay them in the gutter,,,where it meets the driveway and reverse over them,,,.Hide them in the garden, till your return.....

You could try asking the body corporate if you can do the cement thing, tell them you'll pay for it yourself, and if it's that quick-set stuff, it shouldn't put anyone out (or do it in the middle of the night when no one's trying to get in or out! hehe)

Is there anyone else in the complex with having the same problem?...maybe you could get them on-side too

I normally just drive up the footpath and use the next available driveway exit if I can't get out of the one i'm in.

So long as your car is at a legal height the driveway must be able to accomodate you so as Shell said, check with the body corporate and then get the concreting done, and if you are willign to pay they shouldn't have a problem accept that there will be no access for 3 days but its for a good cause (skyline) so they should understand.

I guess your right, it is legal, it's just as you know the Sky's have a bit of a nose on them compared to most cars I will propose the midnight quick dry cement thing and see what happens .....
