you need an app to work that out? :)

here's what you do, every time you fill up make sure you reset your odometer to zero. Next time you fill up, say 50L, just add 2x 00's to the end of it, so 5000. Divide that by whatever your odometer says and that's your L/100k's.

21.2 litres per hundred is the correct figure. NOw I've only done around town driving and no highway and I reckon maybe 15% of the time I have given it a squirt, but still!

I would have expected about 16 litres per hundred. I think something must be wrong, either O2 sensor or bad tune (too rich?) anyway to roughly tell or should I just book it in?

77,000 km's on the clock BTW so perhaps an O2?

I would do another tank full and do the calculation on the back of an envelope. I have got my S1 down to 20L per 100km by giving it heaps on short trips but M35s are supposed to be more economical. Your figure is too bad to be just the o2 sensor. I would do another trial before spending any money on it.

Based on a supposedly 80L that the M35's have, that means it can only do about 380kms on a tank. Unless you're flooring it everywhere, that really cant be right. My one can do at least 500kms on a tank in the city and over 700kms on freeway.

What does your computer say?

The car display says: The best the display 7km's/litre and 450 km range.

7km/L is 14.28liters per 100km.

So if you are using 20 liters per 100km your display will be 5km/L.

If this is right, it is terrible. And you live in a flat city. Try Sydney will all the hills around the coast and I still manage 7km/L.

I think it is time for a check up.

Cheers

Doesn't sound quiet right, they are definatly fuel chewers but not quiet that bad.

This is part of the reason I'm looking into the ECU retune (remap) option as I'm just burning too much fuel, mind you I tend to drive in manual shift all the time and I'm not always gentle on the pedal

Has your car had any mods you don't know about maybe? I assume the turbo is standard or has it been high-flowed? Jetwreck (Craig) was talking some pretty shocking figures last night at the meet in reference to his high-flow. He said he gave the pedal a good workout and his fuel economy dropped to 1.5L - 2L to a KM or something like that lol.

How hard does your car pull in manual shift mode under full boost?

I have the exhaust, a BOV and the Apexi airpod, don't know about anything else at this stage, will find out when I take it to the guys at Trojan for a service.

I would need to drive in someone elses Stag to compare becuase I had never even sat in one before I bought mine sight unseeen .

It goes like the frakin clappers though, manual or auto :(.

Maybe it's got some extra's you don't know about, the add-ons you know about may give it a little more pulling power but you never know what other hidden goodies you might have :(

I'll have to drive up and have a squiz :)

What are you doing later this week?

i'd like to know what i can do for fuel at the moment too,

seem to get close to 500km's per tank, but have never put 80L in it full yet. usually close to 70.. dont know how far i can push it untill i run out..

Is there an o2 sensor i can change? will it even improve anything?

still going to hunt for an ecu for sure tho! it seems like a good option, i will get my wideband o2 on the car today and see what it goes like.

Hey if you're picking it up who gets to F*@k? :)

I don't want to know, but just do it quietly whoever it is! :bunny:

Yeah, I think you better go pick it up yourself Iain, I'm not getting caught in no triangle!

You really shouldn't be getting more than 15L/100km unless you're like redlining it everywhere...

I drive about 15 mins each way to work each day and I get about 14.5L/100km due to the short trips. If I do a few longer weekend drives in there that drops to around 11-12L/100km because it loves the open road when you hold it in 5th gear.

But the short trips to work really mess up the fuel economy.

I'd aim for around 14L/100km (ie. around 500km on 70L) - if you're not getting at least 15L/100km even in stop-start traffic, then I'd say there's a problem. But first I'd work it out manually (as others mentioned above) to make sure its not just your iphone app giving you dodgy numbers.
