I think the iphone app is right even though the computer says it's 7 km's per litre. Now assuming I've got this right on the manual figures of 150km's and consumed 31.79 litres then it's 21 ish per 100 k's! Fark!

Damn man! Are you using 91RON unleaded or the correct 98RON Premium?

Maybe you should try a different fuel?

I know when I have put Caltex Vortex98 in my tank, my exhaust coughed up puffs of carbon when ever I put my foot down, smelt of rotten egg all the time and I was getting 80km less from the tank on mostly freeway driving.

I generally use either BP ultimate, Mobil Synergy 8000 or Shell Vpower. None of which give me the any of the unpleasant effects outlined above.

BP ultimate, Mobil Synergy 8000 or Shell Vpower are the fuels to use

Id strongly suggest replace the oxygen sensor, reset battery/ecu, and then get it on the dyno with a reputable workshop to see why its chewing so much fuel.

Also bear in mind that not all models get the same economy.

An ARX will consume more petrol than a RS or RX. It is a heavier car and even the Factory quotes higher fuel usage.

This is true. I was assuming that my 14.5L/100km doing maximum 15 min trips (a good 3-5 mins of which is running cold) would be much worse than what would be considered average fuel consumption for a M35.

Either way, 21L/100km is far too high even for an ARX. The factory figures put it at only a couple L/100km higher than the RS/RX models dont they?

I was thinking about why it would be better on the RS/RX and I figure that it is because of weight and the smaller wheels on the RS/RX. This would give the RS/RX lower gearing for stop start traffic.

I agree that Damien needs to get his car checked.

Really just confirming everything everyone else has said, but I've been getting 12-14L/100km since the day I bought mine, no matter how I drive it.

Just filled it up (the fuel light had just come on) and got 550km out of 67L...= 12.2L/100km

That's a stock '01 ARX with 84,000km.

Which application are you using, Houdini? I'm using "Road Trip Lite" on mine (it's a free app), and it allows you to make inputs for when you do mods to your car so you can track the consumption against the changes you've made.

have put all BP ultimate 98 in it except for one tank of the caltex 98 stuff :mad:

had a look at that one but ended up installing Gas Cubby. Paid up but with a free trial (I'm still on the free one). Might revisit roat trip to track the difference after a tune...

Just interested to see what everyone is looking at doing to the ECU to achieve better fuel efficiency.

I just come up with some idea not sure if it gona work...

As everyone is talking about high flowing the turbo and our car been tunned stuipdly rich from the factory,

what if we just install a high flowed turbo means the car will run alot leaner...

will it balanced it out? or there will be more to consider?

have anyone dynoed ( for A/F reading ) thier car just with a high flowed turbo on?

Im keen to see if it works or not...

that doesnt work oz panda. because if more air is going into the motor, the 'correct' amount of fuel would also be added. i saw correct, because thats what the factory tune says...... if youre thinking of leaning it out by pushing it and upping the boost. thats the most stupid way of doing it. not to mention dangerous!

the only way to adjust this is by changing the ECU or getting some sort of piggyback system for it.

LOL did you miss when Craig said that he gave his ARX a boot full of loving a few blocks before he got home with the newly fitted high-flow and his fuel economy went down to 1.5L / KM lol.. That really is like watching a second hand on a clock, poor fuel :)

So no, some form of tune is still going to be required but at the end of the day if you pick a nice level of boost that suits daily driving the fuel economy is going to be an improvement anyway.

High flow means it pushed more air.

ECU has a predetermined air/fuel ratio it must adhere to, thus more air = more fuel for OE ECU.

My fuel economy remained the same after the highflow and hardly changed (0.1L/km) after the dump back exhaust.

I presume the Jet was going by his leaf?

I am pretty sure that with the standard turbo, the green would bottom out of the leaf under WOT

boost is easily controlled via your right foot. you want less boost, dont push the pedal as hard :)

:)

..... or wait for the PM35.
