The V35 Skyline Sedan official designation is:

UA-PV35.

The V35 Skyline Coupe official designation is:

UA-CPV35.

I`m REALLY suprised that alot of people on this *Skylines* Australia forum still call it an R35. Aren`t you guys Skyline enthusiasts?

By getting the name wrong, we`re disrespecting the latest Skyline incarnation. This is not a rant, it`s just that I really want SAU Forums to be THE English Language Skyline Information base that all people look to for accurate information.

I`m not trying to score points here or trying to look like *the man*, I just want this forum to be the best there is.

You say the new GT-R is a *totally* different car, yet you still think the chassis designation is in accordance with previous RB engined GT-R`s so your calling it an "R"35?

That doesn`t make sense.

And no, the whole "The New GT-R is a Whole different car from the Skyline" is just bollocks that Carlos Gohsn told the AMERICAN press. They (well, Gohsn) can`t sell the GT-R under the Infinity label, so they have to go a different route. But who cares what they`re doing in the US anyway?

In Japan (the only place that matters when it comes to Skylines and the GT-R), there is no difference between the Skyline and the GT-R. There will be no differentiation between them. The GT-R will be know as the V35 (Skyline) GT-R. That makes sense, doesn`t it?

And remember, my original post in this thread was talking about the Sedan and Coupe, NOT about a car that hasn`t even been released yet...

IT'S NOT A FREAKIN SKYLINE. it's an independant model (like 200SX) that is the top, bestest, most beaut car in the whole nissan portfolio.

I see you used the "200SX" as an example there Sonic, but there is no 200SX in Japan... so your actually referring to what the GT-R will be marketed as *in Australia* are you not?

**I only ever refer to Japan fellas, I don't know what the bloody GT-R is going to be called in Oz, thats IF you get it at all.

In Japan, it's a V35 Skyline GT-R... woohoo!:)

Nope, Goshn has said it's going to be the Nissan GT-R worldwide. One name. No more 200SX/Silvia/240SX confusion, just one name and everyone's gotta live with it.

YES we are getting it. When is the question as we'll get our cars after America/Japan/Europe are satisfied (so expect between 6-12month wait after car is unvieled).

This wait would make sense as it would allow 350Z owners who want a GT-R to cash up enough to buy one...

Even though Carlos "I`ve got yellow fever" Gohsn is the CEO of Nissan, I wouldn`t hang on everything he says. That guy has some serious relationship issues with the Japanese at Nissan, that could very well effect what actually is decided upon... ie: the Japanese overturning some of his "corporate" decisions.

Thats what people (my mates) are saying in Japan.

Thats great Sonic... I`m not contesting that.

I`m saying that "Corporate decisions" that make the GT-R a *GT-R*, that Carlos Gohsn seems tp think are so unmarketable outside Japan eg: it`s name (Skyline heritage), and styling (the engine fiasco has been put to rest thank god)

I mean, Carlos fooked up about the V8 didn`t he? Haa, ha...

So as I say... don`t take everything he says (from now on!) as gospel... he is after all a FOREIGNER in Japan, and any of you guys who have been to Japan to live will know, foreigners don`t run things...

Don't like the look of it anyway, looks like a recycled Renault...................

And we all know how good the frogs are at car design...........long live the citreon, the renault, and the peuguot, with out a doubt the three ugliest looking cars ever made.

I'm sorry, but they are taking skyline where I don't want to go [lets hope the engine package is not influenced by French design].

didn`t like it the much either....but the more 350z`s i see on the road the more i`m starting to like the skyline..i can see were there going with it and yeh i like it ...v35 coupe dumped with wheels ,kit etc is a fat skyline ..stock not to bad either... ...anyone out there driven 1 ??

unless they put a 5ltr, push rod, 2 valve per cylinder donk in the new skyline you'll never seen it run against the likes of v8 supercars, who cares anyway, already beat them at that game a few times, do you really need to embaress them again, they will just make a new formatt up again and rule the nissan out. thing i can't get my had around is they don't even run the V8's they sell there cars with!!!!!!

Personally I'm not sold on the new shape, looks like a maxima!

    • For sure the later RB26 variants had a different setup (6 cam voltage sender?), but the RB25DE/DET share the same ECU pinout/PCB footprint, and at the ECU plug it ends up being 'throttle sensor in' & 'throttle sensor out' (to A/T TCU) ...you stick a multimeter on these pins and you'll find them directly connected (0 ohms) ; I had an pair of Nissan ECUs on the bench long ago, and I noticed this throttle sensor in/out link, actually linked to an op-amp ...which was unpopulated on the NA board, but present on the T board and I went 'ah-ha!' in some moment of clarity... ...it wouldn't surprise me if they changed strategy here though (in the software and actual monitoring of this signal), because they did with other stuff (A/T signals).. and 0.45v as a trigger point makes sense, as that's what the external TCU units expect at idle ; kudos, thanks for that insight...I suppose it boils down to whether or not Consult can display real time data of that signal's voltage... ...in any event, it presents the same target...ie; rotate TPS unit to achieve 0.45v to suit both ECU&TCU, and where do you goto from there? Just disconnect TPSwitch connector and/or that plus TPSensor connector....or do you go for the throat and disconnect IACV solenoid and see if it still stalls? (probably throws a recoverable fault code and goes for default idle strategy?)...
    • I’m also conscious that e85 is slowly being phased out. Not all United’s have them anymore. Can’t take the risk of being low on petrol and assuming the servo will have it.
    • MR HAMMER has said his piece. Painted up to avoid Rusty Rusty. Actually lines up well. (i.e it lines up the same as the unmolested GTR guard). Turns out the GTR Strut brace does foul on the bonnet vents ever so slightly. May need a little bendy bendy if intended to keep using with a strut brace. So spacing it out to clear the FAST102 is not an option. Annoyingly, the bonnet vents also foul on the heater lines running over the engine. Given this engine does not EVER require a heater, a delete loop is going to be used. Don't worry, the defogger uses the AC. The heater is basically "Do not use the aircon and turn the fan on". It will still be effective, I promise.... once I get the system regassed... Will have to revisit with unvented bonnet I suppose, and suitable strut brace. There's plans to do this and other things tonight and bleed brakes (there was a weep) and put the bumper back on, and take Good Friday morning - Because troubleshooting on the side of the road limping it home at midnight tonight is ... not very smart.
