Hey Guys,

So ive picked up a bunch of alpine gear.

The following is what i got:

Alpine Sub Type X 12 inch

Alpine Amp MRV F345 (4 Channel)

Alpine Amp MRD M1005 (Mono Amp)

Alpine Headunit 7874EB (Yes its a bit old, but ive have it in my car already)

Basically what i want to do is get some good front speakers... i was thinking (Following the Alpine theme)

Alpine SPR-17S Type-R 6-1/2" Component 2-Way Speaker... Has anyone installed these into a R33 GTS T Door? Hows the mounting depth? From what ive seen on the forum the stock speakers are ~ 57mm. Where as these type Rs are 59mm. Would i need spacers? Are these more or less a drop in speaker upgrade?

I think i will disconnect my rear speakers and just have front/tweaters and sub going.

What do guys think?

easiest way is to remove the door skin and take out the old speaker and measure the depth. But I'm quiet sure they'll fit fine. extra 2mm shouldn't be an issue.

I have the older model SPR-17S 6.5" splits and they went in fine into a 32GTR. Although I had to make a custom mounting plate and trim the inside of the door skin a little bit to make sure they don't touch the speaker

you can easily fit the SPR-17S in the front of the R33 GTST, you do have to make a custom spacer though out of probly 18mm MDF as from memory you wont be able to fit the SPR-17S into the factory spacer.

Is this a difficult thing to do?
