after a while the plasticy rear hatch hinge sags the whole hatch rearward a bit, the latch and the bit on the hatch itself interfere and it just buggers up..

i was going to either get new hinges (as if i could find em)

or modify the latch (...grinder...)

i pulled all the rear trim apart last night just to see what goes on in ther

there is a small lever on the right hand latch that is easily adaptable to fit a central locking solenoid onto...

im thinking of getting one from the wreckers and making an electric release button, it will hold the latch open for like 10 seconds while i run around to the back to open it....

looks REAL eas to do...

Yes it is the hatch actually sliding downwards that causes the failure to open. From memory the screws that locate the hinges to the glass become displaced because the bushes in the glass wear and the glass (whole hatch) slides down.

Using silicone in the glass holes can help taking up the slack
