I just had a steal key cut for the M35 the guy behind the counter said he wouldnt put it in the ignition because it might shut the car down. Is this true Has anyone tried using a standard key. Im not going to bother with the factory key because i cant get my BCM and nissan in adelaide are no help.Nissan told me that with the factory key the buttons only unlock and lock the doors and the key itself starts the car. so i guess i dont need the key with the buttons then. They also said if I did have the metal tag with the code that it was for the cut of the key. Im just going around in circles and i cant find what im after on any forums

i have a metal key that starts the car. AFAIK there arent many M35s around with the coded keys. chris rogers will know what to look for.

as for shutting the car down, yes if you do have coded keys and you dont have the correct code key, then it will stop the car from starting. and then it wont start again.

lucky that happened to me at a nissan dealer (in my S15), and they fixed it for free!

Just confirming that the stock key chain ONLY locks & unlocks the vehicle, there are no transponders in the unit, that is straight from Hornsby Nissan.

That said, providing yours is not an aftermarket ignition/lock you should be sweet, the key you have just had cut should work fine.

Bah! Your pulling our leg on this one ain't you? :)

They probably felt guilty about over charging you for everything else they supplied or did :P

hahah nah i bought a new key from them, so they handed it to me and i asked if it will just work and they said yes. so i went out and guess what? it didnt work. like i told them lol

anyway they chucked in the consult and programmed both keys for nothing
