I used a VT battery, bigger then standard, still fits in the metal tray in the boot, has large cca amp rating, about the biggest you will get and still fit in the boot, but you may need a bigger clamp as the battery is a bit to big for the old clamp.

i have an optima yellow top....

expensive but great.... it lies on its side quite happilty so my 6x9's can fit and i can watch 2-3 hours of tv / gamecube and the car will start first time every time

I think technically the battery is supposed to have a vent valve sort of arrangement that plugs into a rubber hose that exits out the bottom of the boot. Problem is these are $300+ so I doubt you will see many 33's with them, for mine I grabbed one that was about $150 (got a good price) and its semi sealed ( better then your average cheapy but doesnt have the connection for the vent pipe).

I didnt realise the boot battery was vented but if you hunt around you should find the pipe/hose I am talking about.

Talk to a battery expert, I talked to an aquaintance and he filled me in on the legalities, etc

Haha I'm a paranoid bastard and don't ever have the stereo on with the car off, but I still went a 520 mainly because of the cheap price and the fact that I don't have to worry about my subs and amp draining too much juice.

Most of my mates just run a 330 or so CCA battery but they don't have fancy stereos either.

Don't have any pics, but it was about the only Odessey battery that would fit in the boot of the skyline, my other choice of course at the time was an Optima battery like above. Think it was this one though, http://www.odysseybatteries.com/battery/pc1200lmjt.htm

My r33 had a Odessey 1100CCA Dry Cell in it, was awesome!!

But does cost like $300+, can't remember exactly how much

Good for when you leave the stereo on for a while

How long do you leave it on for before worrying about the car not starting? =b

im after a new battery too. my car isn't starting consistently anymore and with subs and a screen i get about 5 mins of play time before its drained the battery.

these optimas look good. can you buy one that will fit in the place normally?

ahhh you got sold by the salesman I see... that's actually 630CCAs in the standard battery CCA format.

450080- Odyssey Battery - PC1200LMJT

$294.99

ODYSSEY DRYCELL BATTERY - PC1200LMJT, 12 Volts 630CCA, Reserve Capacity (Min.) 91, Hot CA @ 5 Sec. 1200, Left positive SAE universal brass terminal, with metal jacket for protection from heat, L-7.8125, W-6.5625, H-7.5625 (in.) - Automotive/Commercial – Heavy Duty Batteries – Three Year Warranty Add 0.75(in.) clearance for automotive terminals

no there's no problem with a sealed unit being on it's side.

yes you can get standard sized optimas.

I just bought a standard battery off RAC battery service for $100ish when my old one died.

Works fine, although I don't have any fancy audio gear. Just a weak sub powered by a piss weak 80w RMS amp + stock speakers.
