Hey guys,

Bit of a bimbo question. Im soon going to be cutting open my bonnet to fit a Z tune style universal bonnet vent. Im currently running splitfire coilpacks with the coilpack cover removed..

Just wondering what i should do once i fit this bonnet vent? Should i simply just not take the car out at all when it rains or just fit the cam cover back on once ive fitted the bonnet vent?

Let me know what you guys have all done...

Thanks

The vented bonnet should come with a piece of metal that you can bolt back on to cover up the vents from underneath.

When it is cold and wet, you won't need the vent as the ambient temp's are a lot lower.

Have you jet washed your engine with the cover removed? did it fark it up? If it hasn't you should be fine because less water would get in through the vents than a jet wash, and at lower pressure :)

I have a carbon vented bonnet and I've never had a problem with water in the bay. That said i do have a cover on the coils, but I jet wash it and theres no problems.

+1 put the cover back on

hmmmmm

Am i defeating the purpose at all of the vented bonnet if i put the cover back on the coilpacks?

I understand the purpose of a vented bonnet isnt only to keep the ignition system cooler but im just thinking what things would give way first with too much heat....

not much you can do unless it comes with the plate like mentioned earlier, my mate just bought a border racing bonnet from jap and the vent is HUGE! BUT it was designed for FC rx7's so the vent spills the watter into an area with no electrics and what not.
