yeah. and in the info at the start it says that slower cars are supposed to drive on the right hand side of the track when faster cars are coming past. i had to overtake a heap that were driving on the left, even on straights.

lol, having driven some reasonably quick cars at the real nurburgring nordschleife I can confirm it's just like that in real life too. you have to pass people going at walking pace up the inside, round the outside, 2 abreast, 3 abreast and people in 600hp GT2 porsches will do the same to you.... it's a miracle even more people don't die there in open days.... except in real life add in motorbikes and the odd campervan and you get the idea.

I had a double decker bus to deal with the 1st time I went! Came as a real shock as the Ring is so blind most of the time and so you just tend to come across slow things in a hurry!

The Ring copy in the game is pretty good. Better than GT4 was. The only thing it misses is the bumps like at Fuchsrohre and as you launch off Pflanzgarten, plus the Karusell which nearly rattles your teeth out in real life is dead smooth in the game.

do more laps it does develop a groove :D but yes very bumpy but thats half the fun i think.

just such an epic traack, any game with it get my seal of aproval

GT4 Tommy kiara ZZII 900hp........6:15 :( scary...scary stuff.

there is a rythym too the ring, just try the amg driving school challenges and you will find it out. that challenge was mad fun took my over 2 hours too get all gold in the sls one, but it was worth it because you make so much money from it. like 69000 x5. really cool track

Lets get an SAU group going, the competition would be some fun :D

Yeh i agree there is a rhythm at the ring you just have to drive a few laps to get it. I think its the best track in the game so far but i have always liked it and hope to drive it in real life one day.

Managed to get all Gold in the Seb Loeb rally challange last night man the snow was dam hard that took a few attempts lol.

+1 for the burger-ring.

I've done heaps of laps on the pc game GTR2 and was pretty surprised that you can approach alot of the corners in the same way.

Definitely fave track so far.

Agreed, it is similar to GTR2 which makes it real easy to get used to in this game and set some decent times.

As expected, Forza 3 EATS this game alive. Cannot believe how pathetic these developers are. I find it sickening that after sooooooo long, the cars STILL sound like absolute SH*T!!

I drove 600HP R34 GTR which sounded like... F**T if i know!!??? A corolla with an exhaust and punched out cat??

Drove an M3... which sounded like what it would've if it was in Gran Turismo 2.

Anyhow tried a few other cars and was SO bloody dissapointed. In general the game still sucks and is still SO FAR behind Forza 3. In forza, if you drive a 600hp car, it FEELS and goes like a 600HP car. You 'feel' the car break traction, the engine climbs through the rev range in a way that is just so much more exciting and realistic.

Also, while they have actually improved the handling physics in GT5, the whip lash effect is still over exagerated & the LSD effect is still not lively enough on low speed stuff.

Anyway im buying an Xbox.

i meant to post up the other day, i was doing one of the rally special events (not the seb loeb one but the other one) and there was a civic in the race and the driver name was V. Take. made me LOL

as for the post above, oh well, at least that will be 1 less person in here whinging about it.

First time on it in the VW polo race, i had a 15sec lead by sector 1, using the hand controller. If anything this version has slightly less bumps than the GTR2 ones i have so can jump on it a little more through the corners without being scared the car will unsettle.

Still massively dissapointed in GT5 from a gameplay perspective but now that I'm getting over that driving some of the cars is not so bad.

Yeh i agree it is easier to push harder, it's definitely smoother in some parts and easier to ride the curbs without spinning off.

There is a shit load of wingers here...

also to add to your other post about why it took so long. SONY has insisted that GT5 needs to be fully 3D compatible and this has being one of the main reason why the game has got delayed by so long.

pitty very few people will have 3D TV, but Marketing men take precedence here

Agreed. End rant.

:P Does the G25 wheel work on Xbox?

nope.

fantatec made a wheel that was ps3/pc and x360 compatible but due to licencing costs from MS to make it 360 compatible they had to limit production to 10,000 pieces and they are all gooooone.

lol, yeah karusell in real life is painful! lol, haha, I distinctly remember poor troys face as I threw our various poor cars in there and then just flat all the way through and hold on as the thing bumps and grinds it's way through till you're spat out the end. good times.

the only thing I farken hate about games with the ring in them is it reminds me I'm not bloody there. I'd happily never touch another video game again if I could drive the ring once a week.

    • If the RB29 box in the car is a push clutch, then yes, you will need to deal with the pull clutch on the turbo box. You either buy a pull clutch and don't use the old one, or you do the things needed to convert the turbo box's clutch arrangement over to push. Which is a bit of a f**karound. "Making" a custom tailshaft is the easy part. But you will need to source the front clip yoke - the bit that goes into the output of the gearbox. These are not as easy to find. They are out there, but they don't grow on trees the way that they used to.
    • Indicator bulbs are way too bright to use as a "corner marker" (we call them parking lights too). Sure. Go ahead and do it. But realise that you wil need to come up with all your own wiring to do it, as no-one will have a standard howto worked out for Skylines. It's just a matter of abandoning everything that Nissan have done and starting from scratch. You'd probably be better off retrofitting tailght/brakelight globe bases into the front indicator housings and using the taillight circuit for your corner marker and the brake light as the indicator. You'd need to work out how to kill the marker circuit while the indicator is flashing, otherwise it won't flash on-off, just bright-less bright.
    • Hi. A little bit of an update. It maybe(hope not) looks like i would need a new tranny(it would be "maybe" a cheaper or better option anyway) So i need some info. I know i need a different propshaft(i can make custom one) LSD is not a problem cuz the engine will be still(for now) N/A RB20. So if i buy RB25DET NEO tranny...is there something else i need? I read something about push/pull type but i do not know if i need to "change" something or i can just plug n play onto my engine a go? Thanks for the advice
    • Good morning all, Bit of a random question but figured I’d finally throw it out after wondering for a long while. Before I start, I'm hoping to do this purely out of personal preference. I think it would look better at night, and don't mind at all spending a few hours and dollars to get it done. I've copied this from a non-Skyline specific forum, so I apologize for the explanation of our headlight switch setup that we all know. Here we go: Zero lights (switch off) Parking lights (switch position 1) being a rectangular marker on the outside of the housing, my low beam being the projector in the centre (position 2), and a high beam triggered by my turn signal stalk. Most North American cars I’ve owned of this era have power to the amber corner (turning indicator) light as part of the first switch (parking lights). I’d love to have these amber corners receive power when the headlights and parking lights are on (headlight switch), yet still blink when using the turn signal which is of course a separate switch. Hopefully I’ve explained my question correctly. Is anyone aware of a way in which I might be able to achieve this? Thanks in advance
    • My heads are cathedral port! It's likely possible, but I don't want to add any extra moving parts (I know they don't move) between the heads, manifolds, etc. It will also affect how injectors/fuel rails etc sit and I don't really know if it would change how the FAST manifold goes/sits/fits. I have the LS6 steam pipes already as I have a very late LS1 block so it should be fine. I couldn't find anyone who had ever actually used one for this purpose, it seems 100% of people grind the water pump. The thermal spacers are 12mm and are half way to the cost of the newer water pump anyhow... so if it comes to that I suppose I'd rather buy a new pump. The bearing in the pump I do have is a little.. clunky, but it hasn't done that much time and I never noticed it when the car was together in the past few years, so..
