haha, too true

from where I currently stand, it'll take over 33,543,000 extra xp to crack B-spec lev 40

but chin up- I only need 8,987,000 more xp to get that X1

in other news; I was happy to see both teh n00bs in the first 4hr enduro go straight to class 14 after getting 30K+ xp each out of their 25% share

Why did they skimp on the car engine sounds etc?

Maybe its just me, but Hot Pursuit sounds a heck of alot more accurate ie the whailing of the Gallardo. Yes this game is about the accurate physics and handling of a car, but im all about the little things too.

new 608 mb update today, it includes:

The latest update to Gran Turismo 5, version 1.05, was made available just a few hours ago and weighs in at 608MB. Here’s a quick, official summary of all the new changes, but users are discovering a few more new tweaks in our forums as well:

  • Seasonal Events: [seasonal Events] have been added to the [GT Mode] – [GT Life] screen. From here you can participate in official online events from the Polyphony Digital team. In these events, all participants are under the same regulations, and if you complete the event you will win rewards and experience. Compete on the leader boards with players around the world, in Time Trials and Drift Trials!
  • Online Collector’s Dealership: An [Online Collector's Dealership] has been added to the left and centre of the [GT Mode]-[GT Life] screen. In here you will find popular and rare cars. You might just come across that one car you’ve always been looking for, that you haven’t been able to find in the [used Car Dealership].
  • Online Race Rewards and Experience: When you complete a race in the [Open Lobby] or [My Lounge], you will now gain rewards and experience points. Even if you are focused more on playing online, you’ll still be able to gain rewards and levels that you need to progress in [GT Life].
  • Driving Distance and Number of Wins in Online Races: The driving distance and the number of wins you achieve when you complete a race in [Open Lobby] or [My Lounge] will now affect your stats in [Profile] and the [Garage]. Here the results from your online play will cumulate within [GT Life].
  • Improved Rewards: The rewards for winning races in both A-Spec and B-Spec in [GT Mode]-[GT Life] have been increased for a limited time only. (This applies until the end of January 2011.) This is a great chance for those who were previously having difficulties getting ahead in the game, due to a lack of funds for tuning and purchasing required cars.
  • Race Information Display: It is now possible to set the [Race Info Display] in [start]-[Quick Options]. (You can also set this in [Race Display] in [Options]).
  • Save Data Backup: You can now copy and restore your save data. For details, please refer to the in-game [Manual].
  • User BGM (Menu): From [Options]-[Hardware]-[Audio Settings], it is now possible to set the [user BGM] (Menu)]. (This can also be set from the [Music Library] within [GT Mode]).
  • Car Name Change: The official name of “Red Bull X1″ has been changed to the “Red Bull X2010″.
  • Integration with the Website: The main features within [GT Mode]-[Community] can now also be accessed through the “gran-turismo.com” official website.
  • [important Note:] We have made improvements to the [Log] within [GT Mode]- [Community] section, in order to make its operation more stable. Please note that the information that was contained here from before the update has been reset.

MORE UPDATES:

  • The license test menus have been streamlined. After winning a bronze or silver trophy, for example, you have the option to immediately restart the test without having to sit through the animation sequence. (Thanks, Alex.)
  • GT Academy USA has now been listed in the new Seasonal Events (I’m writing up a full post on this now).
  • Mechanical damage has now been implemented in the game’s “Practice Mode” – the first time the feature has been usable outside of the custom online events.

I bought a black one the other day, LOL. i'm currently waiting for a le mans car.

and i'm glad i've got adsl2 to download the update. can you download the update the without using the ps3? if you can i'd do it at work rather than at home (have adsl2 at home and work) and then just install it after work, since the wireless modem at home is a little bit dodgy.

yeah i did some looking around and it doesn't look like i can. that's a bit of a pain but oh well. wonder how many times it will come up with errors while downloading this one. usually takes me about 3 attempts to download a normal update. thankfully thought it only takes a few mins to download a 130mb update, so this one should take less than 10 mins. i'll just have it start while i do the mowing when i get home today.

OK, so for the complete noobs at PS3 interwebs (ie me) how do you get the update through a wireless modem? Does the PS3 support your 3G wireless modem for internet? Or do you download it on your PC/laptop and then copy it over to PS3 on a USB stick?

and where do you get the patch from? a quick google only seems to turn up forum talk about the patch rather than a download link...

my B-spec drivers are still retarded. they are only at around level 8. i had one in my lp560, in the french only race on the madrid track i think (one of the city tracks). by the first corner he was up to 3rd by the first corner. had some alfa and a (i think) lancia or something like that in front of him. was still in 3rd after the second lap. as you said, no taking the inside line, etc. on the straights half the time he was just ramming the rear of the car in front rather than pulling out to go round them. then if he did pull out he would only just have the nose of the car up to about the rear wheel then even though he would be on the inside line for the corner he'd brake early, then floor it quickly then brake again. then he ended up spinning out. he managed to get into the lead eventually, but the front bumper was barely still attached.

for the sports truck one at daytona i had an ford SVT and i had to fully modify it for the moron to be able to win. he was just too slow on the corners that was was last by the end of the first corner even with it semi modified.

can't remember if it has been posted in here or not (and too lazy to go looking), but this video shows how dumb the B spec drivers are. the b-spec driver has spun out and can't get going again

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKNk8jN9vfs

I had the exact same problem as in that video, exact same car and track too. B-Spec mode fails, you have a car thats so much faster that you easily blitz the other drivers on the straights in A-Spec, but the B-Spec driver cant even do that.

Anyone know how much 'extra' xp you get with this update per race?

Will take me ages to d/l it, so I'd kinda like to know of it's worthwhile first

i'd download it regardless.. if ur connected to the network it wont let you play unless u have the latest updates anyway

two of mine do now :)

once they get up around class 30, you'll forget all about their earlier munted behavior

    • hello everyone, an RB26, or RB25 project in the medium long term. I don't know much about this engine or turbo engines in general, I'm here to understand and gain knowledge. I have specific objectives for a project
    • Much less twat-tastic. CF wheels are too garish for civilised use.
    • From there, as the manual says....assembly is the reverse of disassembly, no tricks worth mentioning Much better (for me)
    • In my case, the standard wheel I had was in good condition but the buttons had more wear, so I swapped them across from the original wheel from the car. The plastic rear cover is held on by 4 tabs, and once the wiring is removed you can get access to 2 screws on each side the hold the buttons in From there I just swapped the wiring over. What was interesting is the standard style wheel is 2.0kg but the carbon fibre one is 50% heavier at 2.9kg. It even has a weight inside the wheel at the top to make up for some sort of imbalance in the design. weird
    • Once the airbag is off, to remove the steering wheel.... Undo the 2 plugs into the clock spring, and the horn connector from it's clip. Hit the 19mm nut with a rattle gun (preferably) or if you don't' have one, you probably want an assistant to hold the wheel in place while you use a breaker bar to undo the nut Then, screw the nut back on 3 turns, and pull the wheel sharply towards you. If that doesn't work hit it medium force with a rubber mallet on either side, or possible behind if you can get there. If that all fails (it shouldn't!) you might need a steering wheel puller
