I dont think the game gets to interesting till level 15 when you start unlocking some better events. Alot of the initial events arent very good and I was struggling at one point to keep an interest in the game. Its become alot better now, just wish I had my steering wheel setup ready so I could use it.

Thanks mate, sounds good, I'll keep at it and hope the races get more interesting, only being on Level 14 as I am

firstly, did you consider that maybe the cars have been modified to make them more competetive in the race?

Yeah it didn't really occur to me at first, I was just sort of stunned as they pulled away off the line. Makes more sense if they've been modified to be competitive, but I think there's only so far you can take a 40 year old chassis! :) Round corners particularly. Not to mention not being able to fit decent brakes inside those stock '60s/'70s wheels (ok that's being a bit picky). I think boiracer has a point too.

Yes G27. only way to fly. although all the new Fanatec and thrustmaster wheels look good but very expensive.

yes the AI is rubbish. in Prologue it was fantastic, best AI of any driving game i have played.....and here they did a big backflip.

other than that i got no issues. in reference to the Muira and the 512BB...i think someone at Polyphony fell in love with those, yes they are very unrealistic. but thats good IMO because i love the Muira and its sooooo nice in this game. where in reality they sucked even when new, and caught fire alot lol.

got my superbee. and seen another already.

on another note.....i suck at the rally. even in loebs brand new car i cant do the hardest in the rally special events...they just drive wrong. what am i doing wrong? rally cars are supposed to drive sideways i thought..not juat spin the wheels and sit there witho0ut moving if you oversteer just the slightest......but then ive always hated GT rallying. just wanna get it done for farks sake

nm. i fiddled with the diffs and got it working...still feels crap but i won

Edited by boiracer

ok rally is retarded. same car same skill lvl. dirt i just beat em by 5 seconds overall. snow i lost i constantly. got no less than 3 colision penalties per stage and still beat them by more than 2 minutes overall.....lame, cant wait to get back on the road

the nascar around the ring........easy to win...but i ran off the track soo many times it took me hours of yelling at it. finally got a good run and was in first before the carousel. yay for a million bucks to waste on old cars :)

seriously tho. who decided that Nascars, which aren't designed to do alot of corners....and put em around that track......which has 170.....

cant say it wasnt fun tho, and with a bit of tweaking the cars drive quite well.

Hoo BABY!!! Nascars around the ring is a hoot!! I have only managed 7th outright so far (soft tyres but no tweaks to settings). I can't do a full lap at race pace without sliding off somewhere. Haven't done too many laps around the ring in GT series - I'm relying on my GPL experience, but the track is quite diffierent to what it was in 1967.

Still, I had my first go last night and my eyes were the size of dinner plates as I muscled the car around. Finally set up the surround sound and had the volume cranked up - I must say it's the most fun I've had driving a TV in a LONG time.

Oh - the rally seems a bit better than previous GT series, but still retarded. Night driving - how the f... do you turn on high beams / spotties? Not nice having a 5m visibility cone in front of the car!!

Yeah that is my pet hate with the rally. When it transitions to night visibility even with high beams on is next to nothing

yeah that tarmac stage of the special event in the lambo is fkn ridiculous i think i managed to overtake two cars after many many attempts. how the hell are you supposed to see where your going; yet alone get any sort of racing line flowing..

ohh and circumstances have it that i'm staying with my dad for the next week or so. as shit as that might sound, he does have a rather expensive 1080p projector and one of those hideously large screens that covers an entire wall. at some stage i'll be having a crack at PS3 on that bad boy

oh yeah, sounds like you had as much fun as i did. but i found that i could only do race pace, any slower and i was running off alot. the basic layout of the old track should be about the same, but im sure its changed plenty in that time. love that track, and throwing my ZZII around it is even more fun (its faster than the nascar....easily)

the rally is better... but still rubbish, if you like rally games get Dirt2 its amazing fun in the dirt :)

also at the moment hunting down rare/cool cars from the used car dealership. as well as the skylines

got the

32,33,34,35 Premium GTR models

32,34,35 Calsonic race cars

Nismo Lm road going version

nismo R34 R tune

and ive got a heap of other cool cars

wating for the

Nismo 400R

Nismo R32 S tune

nissan R390 GT1 race/road cars

the early GTR model

just a question, i know the 400R and the lm road going version are real cars but are the s tune and r tune nismo real production cars or are they cars that customers have chosen to give to nismo to modify. because there is nothing in the description about the amount produced or anything.

seriously, that seasonal race around nurburgring in the nascar it aint that hard. it only took me 2-3 goes and i found if you try to go hardcore you will inevitably crash and destroy your chances at winning.

the thing most people do wrong in any race is they actively try to go as hard as they can at all times. now sometimes for very very short races that may be necessary, but even one lap around the ring isnt short.

the best way to tackle it is to stop trying to drive like an insane pro race driver. just chill the fuck out and keep your line smooth, keep your accelerator under control and know your braking points. in essence, try to drive slower and keep it under control. keep doing this and you'll soon become awesome at maintaining control while getting good consistent times.

you really do need to walk before you can run.

Yeah that's what I was doing, using the suggested gear and brake point and not really trying to out drive that. For whatever reason I just stuffed up the same corner both laps :S then I was close to winning but knew I wouldn't so tried punting him off. That didnt work either lol

It's fun and as said it's quite easy if you settle down and just drive within the limits :)

On another note. Got my formula GT, handful to control with a normal PS3 controller

I have seen photos of the R tune and the S tune so they are real but I'm not sure what they really are, maybe limited run nismo versions.

i got 2nd on my first attempt of that race. cbf'd doing it again. figured 2nd was good enough for now. haven't had enough time to play it again and i'm pretty sure it gets removed today. the latest round of seasonal events are super easy (as someone said earlier). i've done the 3 hardest ones and won all of them by large margins. the lotus one i was in the lead by the first corner of lap 3 (overtook first about 100m after the start/finish line). last time check i saw was about 50 seconds. the one in the ford was pretty easy, and the one in the rally car was super easy. it was probably the easiest of the lot.

I got that Nascar one around Nurburgring first shot :turned: Won by 15 seconds too. If you do the AMG special events to get to know the track beforehand you should be alright. You need to tune the car up proper as well and not just use the standard settings.

Still struggling to get gold on the special event for the nascar, the very last one...Best I can get is 5th pinch.gif

All i bought for the car was supersoft tyres and did an oil change, i couldn't really upgrade anything else. First attempt i got 4th. Then tried again the next day and got 2nd. Both times i came off the track at least twice. Then 3rd attempt i did 2x clean laps without coming off the track at all and gained 1st position halfway through the last lap. It's all about control and knowing when to push it and when not to push the car. I think the 'ring teaches you alot about controlling your braking and throttling skills because if you keep driving at full throttle like you would on say a shorter and far easier track, you will no doubt miss a corner or two hence slowing you right down.

Anyone tried the Tsukuba seasonal time attack yet? I'm gonna give it a shot tonight as i've completed gold on all the currently available a-spec seasonal races.

righto, i've got a trade offer i would like to propose to you guys.

i'm looking at trading the Woodone Advan Clarion R35 GTR (SGTver.), for the Xanavi Nizmo Z '06 model (SGTver)

as you can see from the photo, the GTR has just under 300km on the clock. why am i trading it? the power figures are too high for the GT500 races online, and i already have my Xanavi Nismo GTR as my unlimited power car for the GT500 races. so this is now not required and i cant sell it to get any of my money back

GTRspec1.jpg

The Xanavi Nismo Z doesnt have to be modified.. but i'd like to to be around the 493-520HP range. nothing higher if possible ( so no stage 1,2,3 engine upgrades) as it will be used for the GT500 online races. If you would be interested in trading let me know

    • Major thread necro but how bad of a job is it to DIY? Looking at it online it looks like if you reuse your ring and pinion as long as those are in good condition it should be fine to just pull the axles/front cover and replace the diff that way? Or should I be replacing everything and doing preload measurements/gear mesh testing like the factory service manual mentions for the rear diff?
    • in my list I had the R33 GTR as the best Skyline. Infact I had all GTR's (33>34=32), the NSX, the GTO, the 300ZX, the 180SX, the S15 better than the FD RX7. I had the MR2 and the A80 as 'just' better. I also think the DC5R Integra looks better but this is an 01 onwards car. I also think the FC>FD. It's almost like aesthetics are individual! The elements @GTSBoy likes about the FD and dislikes about the 180 are inverse in my eyes. I hate the rear end of the FD and it's weird tail lights that are bulbous and remind me of early hyundai excels. They are not striking, nor iconic, nor retro cool. The GTO has supercar proportions. I maintain these look much better in person (like the NSX) especially with nice wheels and suspension which is mandatory for all cars pretty much. Some (or all) of these you have to see in person to appreciate. You can't write a car off until you see one in the flesh IMO. Like most people we probably just like/dislike cars which represent certain eras of design or design styles in general. I also think the 60's Jag E type looks HORRIBLE, literally disgusting, and the 2000GT is nothing to write home about. FWIW I don't think the Dodge Viper Gen1's have aged very well either. You can probably see where I rate bubbly coupes like the FD. I know we're straying now but the C4 and C5 absolutely murder the Viper in the looks department as time goes on, for my eyes. Wouldn't surprise me if people who love the FD, also love the MX5, Dodge Viper, Jag E Type, etc etc.
    • I used to hate R31s, and any of the other Nissans that led up to it, and any of the Toyotas with similar styling, because of the boxiness. They were, and remain, childish, simplistic, and generally awful. I appreciate R31s a lot more now, but only the JDM 2 door. The ADM 4 door (and any other 4 door, even if they are unique compared to our local one) can eat a bowl of dicks. The Aussie R31 is also forever tarnished by their association with stereotypical bong clutching Aussie R31 owners of the 90s and early 2000s. I think the Nissans of the 70s (other than 120Y/180B/200B) are far superior looking to the 80s cars. The 240K era Skylines are boss. The same is broadly true of Toyotas. Hondas don't ever register in my thinking, from any era. Mitsus are all horrid shitboxen in any era, and so also don't register. Subarus are always awful, ditto. Daihatsus and Suzukis also don't generally register. They are all invisible. I think the SW20 MR2 looks fiddly. The 3000GT/GTO is like that but way worse. Too many silly plastic barnacles and fiddly gimmicks ruined what could have been a really nice base shape. Kinda-sorta looks like a big heavy ST165 Celica coupe (and I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing). I think the 180SX is dreadfully bland. It's not bad looking. But it has no excitement to it at all. It's just a liftback coupe thing with no interest in its lines, and bad graphical elements (ie wide expanses of taillight plastic on the rear garnish). The S13 Silvia is a little better - getting closer to R32 shapes. But still....bland. S14? Nope. Don't love it. S15...a little better. Probably a lot better, actually. Benefits from not being like a shrunk in the wash R34 (where the S13 was a shrunk in the wash R32 and the S14 looked like a Pulsar or something else from the stable on Nissan mid 90s horrors). The Z32 was hot as f**k when it came out but hasn't aged as well as the A80. Keep in mind that I think the R33 is the most disgusting looking thing - and out of all the previous cars mentioned is objectively closest to my precious R32. It's just....real bad, almost everywhere you look. And that is down to the majority of what was designed in the 90s being shit. All Nissans from that era look like shit. Most other brands ditto. In that context, the FD absolutely stands out as being by far the best looking car, for reasons already discussed. Going behind the aesthetics, the suspension alone makes it better than almost any other car.
    • If they just called it the "Mazda Tiffany", it would have been spot on.
    • Yup but for me its the HR ! Cut my teeth on the old holden 6s in the day ! And here's me thinking in the day it was also the 300ZX and the Mitsubishi GT3000 ! All, as well had good lines, but always seemed to need finishing off, style wise.
