this is painful.

i bought my ps3 almost 3 years ago just for this game and its still not out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

these delays are beyond a joke

i hear that!

i bought my ps3 on release day over 3 years ago.

gran turismo is the sole reason i own a games console.

ebgames now saying 30/11.

any later than that and they will start missing out on xmas sales bigtime.

im havin a little faith on this one

where did you see that? on the ebgames australian site it still says TBC, and the american site says 1/1/2011. i honestly don't think anyone actually knows yet.

Ah fuggit. I'll just set up the cockpit / G25 on the 50" plasma and break out GPL for some good 3 pedal H pattern action. Was hoping to use GT5 to get the young bloke used to the concept of a clutch and gearstick before letting him loose in the rally car (turns 12 next month and can legally drive in motorkhanas).

At this rate, he'll be on his open licence before GT5 comes out, and the R35 will be available for sale in the classic cars section of the game.

it says 30/11 according to ebgames nz. can see on the website ebgames.co.nz. ok so who knows whether thats just them having a guess and getting our hopes up or whether their source is actually reliable.

either way, at this stage i cant see sony letting this one slip beyond xmas. many many sales to be lost if they do.

ah yeah, didn't notice that you were across the pond.

yeah i don't see sony letting it miss xmas either. sony has a large amount of control over blu-ray production (since they jointly developed it with another company), so you'd think they wouldn't have too much trouble finding a 3 week slot for production of a game that is going to outsell probably all the movies that would be made in that time, as well as games. but i suppose they probably still have to honour any contracted delivery times for stuff they have already got signed up. i don't think the next delivery date will be announced until the game is very close to being finished production (including burning to disc). i think that they know that announcing another date only to have it delayed again would seriously damage their image, more than any of the previous delays have. every delay does more damage than the last.

i can only imagine what kind of strings the sony execs/production coordinators are trying to pull to get gt5 bumped into another production slot. more than likely they've been offering incentives to their other clients to forfeit their production slot for it. shouldn't be that hard. when according to the official story that polyphony only missed their deadline by 3 days, you'd imagine when the production line got to gt's timeslot, and they had nothing to produce they would have moved on to another job, therefore opening up the same slot for gt on the other side of that production run.

my theory anyway. one can only speculate

yeah that was my theory as well, but then it comes down to how big the production was that they brought fowards. or if they were only 3 days late, you think that they could just do a 18 day run instead of a 21 day run, as this would allow them to do a 6 million copy run instead of a 7 million copy run, which you would assume would still be more than enough to cover pre orders and still provide a decent amount of excess stock.

i would assume that gt5 will either have the current F1 version, or both the new and old version (like how they do the different versions of the fuji track). i highly doubt that they will do just the old version as it would be harder for them to do than the newer version. (since they could simply map the track in it's current form easily).

i'm guessing that the reason it's 'maybe' in the game is that there hasn't been any official confirmation that it is in there. so they are simply guessing that it will be there going off what was said.

and release date looks like it might be december 9 going off what i just saw on GTplanet. sony have a comp running where you can win the signature edition and the previous end date of the comp was november 4. it has now been changed to december 9.

A stream of interesting tidbits have been trickling into our Gran Turismo 5 forum today via several new magazine articles. First up is the December 2010 issue of PSM3 magazine, which provides a few details as highlighted by our own Dessy182:

* Mechanical damage and failure will include things such as broken gearboxes, brake failures, and stalled engines.

* Both premium and standard model cars will include fully operational reverse lights, horns, and will accumulate dirt and grime which must be washed off by these guys.

* More features are re-confirmed, such as imprecise weather forecasts, point-to-point timed rally stages, time-of-day synchronization between virtual circuits and their real-world locations, and official NASCAR rules and regulations.

* You’ll also find a brief interview with me, the founder of GTPlanet. It was a nice chance to talk about the game, and I hope you all find it interesting – thanks to Alex of PSM3 for the invitation!

Denur has also gathered a few interesting details from issue 44 of Dutch TV magazine Veronica:

* Heavy snow accumulation will continue to make the track more slippery, and “ruts” will be carved into the snow as you drive to make conditions even more challenging.

* You’ll be able to create and define your own special events within the game, presumably giving you complete control over all race variables and competitors.

* In B-Spec mode, you’ll simultaneously manage the racing careers of up to six different drivers. You will have to push them, but take it too far and their morale and performance will suffer. For 24-hour endurance events, you will choose four of your drivers to compete together on your race team.

* You will be able to trade cars with your friends – including those which you have tweaked and tuned for maximum performance.

it will be good, and id say they will release it before Xmas. im sure alot of people are banking on it being a chrissy present.

on another but entirely related note. MY RIG IS DONE!! only in its raw form. still needs grinding down of a few welds, some cable management and powdercoating. but for all intensive purposes, very strong, very comfy. and a whole lotta fun!! been testing Prologue and Shift all week. i also spent enough time infront of prologue to get my Fezza F1 car......hard to drive a 7 speed sequential F1 car with a 6 speed H pattern...lol

    • Howdy friends, So another weird one today, I was looking into replacing some broken clips holding the front grille for the R32 GTR (part number 01553-03831), and noticed the brackets which are supposed to hold the grille in place were also missing 😑. I do recall seeing this issue many years ago, but didn't fix it at the time. A quick look on eBay and I was able to find the genuine brackets, along with all the screws which suited the headlights (part numbers 26042-08U05,26092-08U05). Happy days!....  Once they arrived however there was an extra nut in the packaging which implied that there should also be a bolt or a stud, and sure enough, after a bit of searching I found this thread from 2013, and @Ants clearly shows a stud should be present. Reading around a bit more, it's possible the headlights on my car are the "povo pack" headlights as mentioned by @funkymonkey in this thread way back in 2008. This could explain why the studs are missing on my set of headlights. Looking at the headlight diagram I wasn't able to see a suitable part number for the stud itself. The headlight did indeed have a recess that looked like it would accept a stud, but interestingly no thread or anything obvious how the stud would be affixed to the headlight, I suspect it may have been glued in, press fit, or melted into the plastic at the factory. Another member may be able to clarify if they happen to have a genuine set of N1 headlamps. The only thing we have to work with within the recess is a keyway which likely is there to prevent the stud from rotating within the recess. In any case, back to 3D printing, I put together a model which acts like a pug with a friction fit inside this recess, making use of the keyway so it doesn't rotate while tightening a bolt. Printing in TPU will allow it to slightly swell making a nice snug fit without cracking the part. I've designed the adaptor it to accept an 20 mm M6 bolt (stainless with a cap head in my case), as opposed to the standard M5 stud and I made use of the standard galvanised split washer that came with the genuine brackets from Nissan. Once the bolt and screws were all in place, giving the bracket a gentle shake gave the classic "shaking the car" feeling, very solid, which gives me confidence this is going to be able to hold on much better than the janky solution which seems to have been here for the past decade or so. Overall I'm really pleased with how this turned out and maybe there are more people out there running these headlights without a centre stud at all! • Hey everyone, This is my first post apart of the introduction. I tried searching a bit on the forum but couldn't really get a straight answer. I got the car to my mechanic as I felt it being weak. It seems that it was missing on two cylinders due to the injectors. I had all my injectors clean and the car runs much better. The mechanic also confirmed my suspicions that the cat is clogged and needs to be tackled asap. The cat rattles a bit and the hot exhaust warning frequently lights up when driving after getting the injectors clean. In my introduction I was asked about what modification I might be interested in and mentioned a cat delete. From what I was told, this is not really beneficial on the RB20DE and there are more cons than pros.  Could perhaps anyone give some suggestions on what the best course of action would be since the current cat is toast and needs to be removed/replaced anyway? I can also sometimes smell a strong smell of fuel, but I'm not sure if this is related.
    • Hope the cans went down well at least
    • 255 can't go wrong with the price.
    • When I was replacing my pump due to being stranded in the wrong state, I went with the Deatschwerks 320lph kit. It is a direct plug in to the stock wires, harness, everything. It comes with a plug... but you can plug the OEM plug directly into this thing. https://justjap.com/products/deatschwerks-dw300-fuel-pump-nissan-s13-silvia-r32-r33-r34-skyline-c34-stagea?currency=AUD Downside: Won't actually flow that much on boost if you want to push it on E85, but it's comparable to the 040/255 etc. Little more actually.
