Pedders use White line components just painted red and badged as there own ...

I have Pedders sports rider suspension with pedders lowered springs in my R32

Monroe supply Pedders wiht shocks and Pedders make their own springs

I also have a full nolathane bush kit throughout the car

Redranger own Nolathane, Noltec and Whiteline and they also supply Pedders their home brand bushes

Have a Pedders larger rear sway bar upgrade aswell

Depending on how long ago you bought it, I probably made it.

I can vouch for there suspension this isn't the first one of my cars which has there gear either they are pretty damn stiff depends on the spring rate of springs that you buy aswell..

Some kits are OK, some aren't

White line regularly test out there suspension products at Wakefield park and have good R&D and they are Australian made

Bushes are made in Korea, Whiteline springs are discontinued they were local, alignment kits are made locally and in Korea, high volume swaybars are made in Korea, low volume and specials made locally by Selbys Swaybars

As for there service in store I am also with you guys that they are not the best bunch to deal with and tend to rip you a new one when ever you get things done.

It varies greatly from store to store and how much you know to question them.

Good thing being in the trade is trade discounts and only buy parts from them don't get them to do your work.

Just be careful about which products you buy, some are OK, most in fact, but Monroe shocks in a Skyline, I don't think so.

As for alignments in Canberra there are only 2 shops that I recommend Inline suspension in Queanbeyan and Capital steering and suspension in fyshwick

Agree

Cheers

Gary

From my 2 experience with different Pedders stores in Brisbane, I would have to say "Hell no, run away or wait for Fulcrum at the very least". Last time I went to Pedders they stole/lost my fuse box lid and denied it was ever there. Plus they replaced bit that might have been broken but didn't fix the bush that was totally stuffed.

I took one of my VN's years ago to a pedders just for a wheel alignment. The fools wrote me out a quote for almost a grand quoting to replace, everything from steering rack right through to springs just about. Told em see ya...I would recommend Eastcoast suspensions in kirrawee.Very happy with their work.No Bullshitting to me, straight upfront and at a fair price too

Interesting thread - there's a Pedders here, and that would be the only local suspension shop left (Used to have a guy who specialised in wheel alignments and putting in suspensions, not sales, but unfortuantely he left to go up to the mines). I'm tossing up whether to take my car there or to my local mechanic for a wheel alignment and a general look over of all the suspension components, as I've been VERY disappointed with the job done at local tyre places on my previous car.

hr33gts - cheers for the advice

but i only just read it and i've returned from a quick visit to John UAS and i've now got my itemised quote of goodies to save for.

it seems like it's going to be a bilstein purchase, springs TBA.

the last 33 had them on (UAS again) and all was well so looking forward to getting ém again :P

you are on the right track. I know john very well and sure he's an old fuddy duddy, but he actually races his car and has lots of customers with quick cars of all types including many GTSTs and GTRs. he is smart enough to pay attention to what works and what doesn't and knows the reasons why. and has tried and tested lots of different combinations on his and on customers cars. plus he talks to me so he can't be too dumb. lol. he is also not in love with any one brand of gear and will source whatever is suitable for the CUSTOMER. not just flog whatever shit he gets the cheapest. sure it's a mission from ACT but it's not like you'll have to make the trip a dozen times. so I say if you're happy there, then just go ahead and get UAS to do it. :D

I went to pedders to get my new rose jointed tie rod ends installed they came out 10 minutes into the job and said it didn't fit, + showing me that it doesn't, got really pissed off at just jap so made a few angry calls, one the way to kirrawee to replace them noticed there was some dried paint inside... Got to them they noticed the same, they cleaned it out and I went back to pedders furious at them, told them it was just a bit of paint and it just needed scraping/ thread chaser, anyway $88 to replace both sides.

But yeah if they couldn't do a simple thing like that I doubt I would go there again, wasted my time and petrol

How does experience with labour from a franchise have to do with anything in regards to the actual PEDDERS product?

Products are made elsewhere and supplied to each franchise to be installed onto the car...

Thanks Sydneykid for an explanation of Pedders products, good to know where they come from :)

This is why you Zinc chromate or anodise your threaded parts, not Powder coat them. JJR should know this.

All of my range of suspension arms are Zinced for this reason

Some good inside detials here, put them in your notebooks people.

As for thier coilovers, It is said that the Xa range is just D2, but Im not convinced. I think they are MDU by the looks of them, but obviously without pulling them apart its hard to say.

Either way, you can really expect this to be a great damper as they only cost $1500 per set (same as ISC :S)

You can expect them to last too long.

At least they use steel lower sleeves, thank god

I personaly dont mind the store in dandenong if your in the SE subs, i had an alignment there after a nasty gutter hugging session, they said, "we couldnt do a full alignment for everything, but we did our best, and we wont charge you the full amount" i said buety, that was about 5 months ago and i havnt had a trouble with my alignment.

I plan to go there to get my ball join boots done, also i was talking to them about their coilover setup they have going, apparently theyve sold a quite a few to trackers and street guys and they have good raps.

The store in dandenong i actualy got recomended to from here, and there all older guys, no young guns like the rest of the places.

But thats me.

I've had heaps of work done at Pedders Dandenong and i can't recommend them more.

The owner (old bugger) is a champion, talks through everything and is extremly thorough.

I've got their Extreme coilovers installed and they've been bloody fantastic.

It all just depends on which one you go to.

Was in a reputable workshop in Yarraville Vic this week that deals mostly with "race brakes" and I saw a 550 marenello up on a hoist sporting a brand new set of coilovers. Pedders coilovers to be precise.

The owner had binned something much more exotic for the pedders gear. Either he knows something we dont or he has lost his marbles.

Nice! Makes me feel even better about having their coilovers too!

Pedders Sports Ryder eXtreme XA Adjustable Coil Overs.

Anyone heard of these? If so any good ?

Yes I have these on mine (purchased from previous owner) and they seem fine. First car I've had with coil overs so I can't really compare. As for their service, I have only been once to get a wheel alignment, other than the price ($110, I think?) they seemed fine. Slowed down the wear on the inner-rear tires.

i think it all comes down to the store and also how you get on the with the guys that work there...

i am currently a customer of pedders mascot and so am pretty happy with their service. sure it could be better but you cant be 'mates' with everyone and expect everything for free! (or discounted for that matter)

i have been there 3 times now:

first for a wheel alignment and 28point check...

2nd time to install a heap of JJR arms and wheel alignment,

and thrird just now for some whiteline saybars, spanner check and wheel alignment.

now they are not the cheapest but i have built up some repour with the guys and they know what im talking about so i think they veiw me with some respect and hence do a good job and explain things.

they would get so many schmucks going there and would be sick of all the fully sik kids say this and that and blah balh blah...they probably get kicks out of all the bullshit they spin...even though their slogan is 'no bull'

like anyone, if you give them the respect to begin with and actually have some detailed conversations fisrt, you'll probably get the service you want. otherwise you are just anyother customer that doesnt know what they are talking about.

any after some conversation you'll also quickly learn how good a store they are...

i wouldnt think of them as a chain, they are a franchise so will differ greatly from store to store just every other mechanic...

i have still yet to find anyone that is as fastidious as i am anyway and probably never will...so you just have to learn to deal with it or do it yourself. there are jsut some tasks i dont have the time for or the facilities... and i even have my own factory!

Service is at least half of any such businesses "product". Simple.

If they don't have the training capacity or HR tools to employ quality people then the business is a poor one. If they can't ensure a remotely similar level of service between their stores then why would I assume their product quality would be any better?

As yet I know nothing of the quality of their parts.

Then again I've very rarely had a car touched by any mechanic and not had at least some part of the experience be an issue. Last month got new rack ends , a few weeks later the boot falls off, obviously not put on properly.

Thank you DAS KAMU, thank you very much.

Al and his boy's at pedders in Brown's Plains did a bang up job on my 96 33 GT. They installed all the whiteline stuff (nightshift sleepy) and a set of Extreme XA coilover's. Very professional outfit, friendly, right price and they are more then happy to show you what parts are stuffed so you know your not getting ripped off. My car drives and handles 200% better then what it was before.

I would recommend these boys to anyone who is thinking of doing some suspension upgrades.

From now on Pedder's will be my suspension specialist's. :P:(

it does seem to be a bit of a franchise thing, and personal experience, as from reading this thead, it seems some people are getting a raw deal from one shop, and others going to the same place and finding it bliss.

i went down to my local pedders and got some of there sports Ryder springs (well i will tomorrow, i ordered them :)) the owner was saying that he doenst like selling them, as they are illegally low (his preferance i guess, as it is his store), and that generally the springs that they make are about 20% stiffer than standard springs.

You have to remember that because its a franchise, that each store is very much independent, they just have the same stockists. so comparing service and a generality would be a mistake.

- it would be cool to have a thread comparing experiences with the pedder products.

so are there springs red whiteline springs? or actual pedders springs?

    • Also had a look at the Nissan JP website looks like the 400r has a slightly shorter ratio than than the regular V37 3.133 VS 2.937 which from a guy who has driven both 3.69 vs 4.11 ratios in the S15 is bugger all. Seems that the AUTO Z runs the same ratio as the 400R but can't find any info as to if its an open or LSD? More often than not the auto LSD is open
    • Do not replace the power steering lines with this stuff. If it's anything like the Chase Bays stuff it will leak and be worse than stock. The reason why the reservoir is on the LH/passenger side of the car is because that's just where the reservoir was most convenient to fit. Don't overthink this stuff. The intake/cold side of the engine is pretty busy on these cars. And again, the hardpipe is designed to be a janky power steering cooler. In theory you can replace it with a real power steering cooler but that's really only for track use where boiling the fluid is a distinct possibility. Start with the low pressure lines feeding the pump from the reservoir. Make sure there isn't a bunch of junk in the reservoir filter. Be careful to not get ATF all over the engine bay. I hate dealing with ATF spills, you can clean it up and the slightest crevice will still release more oil that can still drip over time. You also want to inspect for leaks before you make a mess and can't tell what happened. Most likely you have a leak somewhere that is allowing fluid out and air in. Failing that it's allowing air in but not fluid out. Only place I can really see that happening is on the low pressure side because the pump will pull a slight vacuum to draw fluid in. Everything after the pump is high pressure or lower pressure, approaching atmospheric by the time it returns to the reservoir.
    • I did a skidpan night at SMSP this week, it was much cheaper than $350. But yeah, you need to slap an LSD in that thing.  I put an OS Giken in the 370Z and it's f**king MARVELOUS even compared to Nissan's viscous LSD. So you're saying it's free now that it's a housing estate? 😂
    • Nah, the car seems to run exactly as it did prior, in saying this it does "seem" to be better down low, like more eager to rev, but that may be 100% placebo effect from intake noise But, I'm not worried about it at all, in the end it is a fairly low compression NA engine that has a well shrouded intake,  if it is getting hotter IAT I cannot notice anything negative performance wise from the seat of my pants thrashing it about on the street or sitting in traffic, so meh, car now now makes induction noise so I'm happy
    • Do you have an IAT sensor? It's worth checking it to see. You may be suprised how little gap you actually need to flood your engine with hot air. (I tape up my airbox for a reason) :p
