About 4 years ago, I had the RB25DET rebuilt with forged pistons after it blew the rings in #2. The mob that machined the block, I'm pretty sure, removed the oil restrictor in the top of the block.

Ever since getting the engine back on the road, it has been burning oil. It is suspected that the oil is being ingested past the valve stem seals.

Could the lack of restrictor be contributing to the problem? Should I put the restrictor back in? (In which case I would have the head ported, etc while it was off)

There isn't 1 restrictor there are several. They cant have removed the restrictors unless you had aftermarket ones in there in there in the first place...

Burning of oil could be related to it getting past the valve stems, however, that would be valve stem seals needing replacing not restrictors - if anything that would only slightly lessen the amount of oil getting into the head - not solve the leaky vavle stem seals.

Both of the above are a head off job though so you could do both... but the RB25 isn't as renowned as the 26 for retaining oil in the head.

Hope that makes sense.
