PTOOSH
Hi Guys I have just recently bought a 90 model R32 GTR it ran well when i bought it home but now it feels like its starving of fuel about 4000 revs below that runs like a dream but when the turbo's really start to work it doesn't want to rev like it should and shutters a bit one of my mates thats a mechanic said it had a bad batch of fuel so i run the tank out and changed the fuel filter and its still doing it. Any help on this problem would be great the motor is pretty much standard so is pretty responsive and goes really well to 4000-4500 revs than just starts to play up. Help please Kel Edited June 18, 2009 by PTOOSH Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/275339-help-please/ Share on other sites

Help please Kel where did you purchase this car, private or dealer? it could be a no# of things, you sure this mate of yours is a mechanic and gave you a half arsed response like that? so far from what your telling me...it could be: Fuel pumps could be faulty and not supply enough fuel... the Ingnition systm could make the car sluggish if at fault. Check your ignition leads and plugs whilst your there and let us know Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/275339-help-please/#findComment-4665152 Share on other sites
Touge Kyousou
I've had a bad batch of fuel a long time ago on one of my previous car and it really was noticeable. I remember past 6000rpms it just wouldn't want to go anymore. But it also affected the entire rev range not just a part of it. Does sound like a pump/ignition problem. Did 32 GTRs have knock sensors on the engine ? If it detects crap fuel, the computer will start retarding ignition at mid to high rpms when you're giving it. KamikazeNinja34
Had a similar issue on my 33 but was at any rev range - might be worth looking at your AFM? just in case? DAN00H
check your timing/ CAS/ Timing belt. AFM's generally go into limp mode about 3000rpm. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/275339-help-please/#findComment-4666622 Share on other sites
Crans
Also check for an air leak mine did something that sounds exactly like that. It was overfueling like a biatch as air was missing would hit a wall at 4500 - 5000rpm. Get a wide band on it and check whats comming out Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/275339-help-please/#findComment-4666698 Share on other sites
TezGT-R
before you do any of that stuff check all your cooler pipes for splits and loose clamps. mate had same symptoms, above 4000 shudder no power etc, was a cooler pipe clamp coming loose. When it hit boost it'd pop open, shudder etc, then when you back off it closes again. simple stuff before you mess with the sensors and other assorted expensive bits Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/275339-help-please/#findComment-4666774 Share on other sites
PTOOSH
Thanks guys I just took it for a strap on low boost 9.9 psi and it did it a little but nothing like it does on high boost 13.9 psi. Thats why i mentioned the AFM. When i had a similar problem...they tell me the vacuum hose to the AFM had gotten disconnected so it wasnt getting the right reading! such a minor thing, so many major pain in the ass consequences =b Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/275339-help-please/#findComment-4667382 Share on other sites
