i started to remove the rotor the other day, screwed in two bolts into the holes and it started to come off. now he bolts i used weren't very long but i got to a point where i thought it should come off and whatever i did it would not budge.. is there something else i need to do???

ps. yes the handbrake was off. lol

find some longer bolts and give that a go. or use a bit of persuasion in the form of a rubber/soft mallet to help the rotor off.

As above, give it a hit. Also try and give the hub a bit of sand to remove the rust, that is what is stopping it from coming off

There is most probably a wear groove inside the rotor for the handbrake which leaves a lip on the edge which still catches on the shoes even with handbrake off use longer bolts as allready said
