So having moved back to Melbourne and living in Dandy, and never having had to commute regularly during normal hours, I've hardly ever caught the train into the city etc. Do those of you who live around the area, do you guys drive anywhere closer to the city and park there before training it in the morning? I suppose, what stations are "skyline safe" to park at these days in the ghetto? How do you get into the city in the morning?

Sucks the big one, was so used to getting up at 8 and making it into work in the city by 8:30 when I lived in Preston/Coburg. Now I have to get up at 6:30 to be at work by 8:30. :P

yeah I don't think Dandy's a good place to park anything really... but I keep hearing people saying they drive closer to the city, parking and hopping on a train. Trying to figure out where people drive to and park if they live down this way.

Funky!

Back in Melbourne eah... Nice!

Dandy, that's a bit of a hike.

Any chance you could take the East Link, get off at Springvale Road OR get onto Eastern Freeway (From East Link), exit off at Doncaster Road and there is a big Park and Ride...

Park there and bus it into the city...

I believe Doncaster Park and Ride is legit.

hmmm I'm starting work around Fitzroy/Collingwood, so that might not be that convenient, as its a 30min bus ride to Vic Parade and then a Tram up the road to Fitzroy.

ATM from my house in dandy, I catch a bus to Dandy station, express to the city, then onto the 112 tram to fitzroy. 1.5 hours. FFFFUUUU. Good thing about catching a train from dandy is that you're guaranteed a seat :rofl2:

Yeah I see...

I don't catch public transport at all really, I will take a taxi and that's about it.

so I don't know much about what train, tram and bus goes where...

Well you are pretty much in Fitzroy/Collingwood as soon as you get off Eastern Freeway.

head unit attached, hand controller, turbo timer, vafc and rsm, dvd player

all visible...

zero issues

that is something i would not be advertising mate.

yep, park across the road from DT panels.

they may feel sorry for you and spray your car too.

noble park has camera's all over there station carpark now also.

if i was still taking the same way to work, you could park on my front lawn, and i'd drop you off at noble park around 6am. but now i head up westal road each morning

My EA Falcon was stolen from Yarraman station last year. Sucks getting off the train after a long day to find an empty parking spot.

Take a bus to the station? There's heaps of buses running around Dandy.

I use to drive to Caulfield when I had no choice but skyline, but it works out a lot more expensive. Caulfield monash multilevel is paid parking.

Why not go the other way, somewhere like Nar Nar Goon which is safe enough and a direct train ride in. Then no traffic either way getting there as you are going against the flow. Must be other stations like that too. My mate lives there and reckons he could get to the city in 1 hour on the train if needed which is the same time as it takes him to get to Cambwell by car currently from there.

Try to find some one near you, would only have to drive into the city once or twice a week, i hate pubic transport so i would do everything to avoid being crammed on a peak train a bunch of weirdo's.

    • I get into huffs with people when I suggest the MX5 looks so much better as a coupe than it does as convertible. Pretty sure I don't prefer the convertible version of anything. Good job on the hardtop! The next buyer will appreciate.
    • IMO wrap does have its uses, but like you said, quality wrap, and professional installation, would probably cost want a quality paint job does, but, the paint, if maintained, is basically for life, and much easier to touch up if required  In other news: it's pissing down here, with thunder, lightning and only some small hail "at this stage", luckily all "my" cars are undercover  I've also been contacted by a guy in Newcastle about the SS, he said he will come down next weekend for a look, we'll see how that transpires I guess 🫰
    • Nah, I'm not an a-hole, ha ha!   I do like the colour match. Some of the carbon fibre wraps are quite freaking horrible. There's one a local company I know uses, and it looks damn good! Also very very expensive per metre to buy! ha ha ha It might be cheaper to respray the roof than use the good CF Wrap, ha ha!
    • Please noooooooo 😭 As for wrap, no thank you mate, I've seen and used "carbon fibre" wrap before, and for these hard tops, they look soooo good when colour matched Like this >>>
    • That depends, someone might offer me a good price to resell it Mark... Ha ha ha!   I can get it wrapped in a really nice looking carbon fiber vynil if you want?
