hey

i have a 93 r33 Skyline n/a auto

basicly yesterday i started her up and she had a bit of a rumble/rattle sound coming from the front left of the car and i thought nothing of it because i had just removed the trim to fix up my speakers anyway tonight i had the same sound when starting up and it started to get worse.

i was driving along the highway when the car started acting strange like it would not responded for a few seconds and then it would be fine. that only happend once.

on the way home i started her again and the rattle was alot worse and stayed on for longer.

when slowing down for some lights then taking off again the car stop responding and clugged alot then the rev went from high to low and just went random (tho it think it may have been me playing with the gas trying to get some power)

so i pulled into a carpark and called rac up

the guy came out very fast (very proud of them)

but he couldn't find anything wrong, the motors working fine and he couldn't see anything.

so he told me to drive it home and if she does it again get it toed but it was fine all the way home.

so my question is what the **** could be the problem?

i am gonna take it in to get looked at this week sometime.

i think it may be the gearbox but i got no idea.

I'm taking a stab in the dark but here goes:

What happens when it acts random?

Give specifics...

- Power steering cuts out?

- Lights go dim?

- Engine almost stalls?

- Any warning lights on the DASH light up when it goes random?

- Any smoke or visible signs from exhaust?

- Any ticking noises or constant bizzare tones from the engine bay?

- Try revving the engine with the bonet up - what do you hear?

Reply back

ok well i got the car booked in for tomoor wot get checked out.

anyway took her for a short drive today and the same thing happend

*engine spluters, loss of power, revs falls and then it goes normal again

*i'v started it up and reved it and it sounds fine

*no weird noises or anything

*when taking off today i left the motor running while looking in the engine bay and after about 2 mins i took off and she got about 2 meters and just stalled feel from 1,000 rpm to nothing

wats more its an auto and wasn't cold

I am guessing that it could have something to do with your iginition system. Coil packs possibly? however this does sound reminiscent of a problem I have had in my naturally aspirated auto VL. I would be driving down the road and everything would be fine then I would lose power and engine would splutter and just run like s**t. Pull over and let it sit for a while (like you did in that carpark while someone came) then I would take off and it would be fine. Turned out that my Crank angle sensor was stuffed and I would say this is your problem as well. Not more than $100 to fix. hope this helps

nugget this may have nothing to do with it, but when i got my boost gauge installed, the immobiliser wasnt properly grounded, and i could drive like normal then all of a sudden no steering, car would stall unless u really press on it, and no brakes. check ur electrical shit is grounded properly. when ur driving along it may just be not touching the metal properly (grounding) when u bounce over bumps or something, and will seem normal when the car is sitting still.
