Thats cool mate, family first...

Would like to get another Stag to replace MrRS4.. preferably an RS260, any volunteers ?

Does anyone have an early (1970's) GTR and want to enter ?

She is due on the 23rd of nov so anything can really happen between then and the date i was going to go and leave her down here. But then there is that possibility i would have to leave and break a bit of law on the way home to get home so quick.

Its all good, the health of your wife/child is more important than the show :) You're always welcome to come incase you can find other arrangements, and I'm sure we'll get another person to come so dont stress :(

Okiedokes

Just got off the phone from another tent company which Shane pmmed me about last night, this one is based in the riverland and will already be at the loxton oval with other tents. For a 4.5 x 4.5 mt tent (which will fit 22 people and a trestle table) the cost would be $270. obviously this is a bit more than the place based on adelaide, however the benefit is a) pete doesnt have to haul it from adelaide and b) they will set the tent up and take it down for us - leaving us more time to work on the cars... it'd bump the group fee up to $20-$25 but I'm sure people would prefer to pay the extra $5 than have to worry about setting up a huge tent.

Everyone think this is ok?

-D

Yep same.

I assume we are going to have to put in some $$ toward some form of decorating around the cars (like chequered flag runners or something?) .... so a 'participation fee' from SAU:SA is not unreasonable at all for everyone to be able to chill out and relax, and make our display kick-ass.

Are you still up typing reports like me Pete? :D

Maybe, maybe not. Cara has the nissan flags and the SAU banner, which I hope to get within the next couple of weeks so I can give them a good clean

Because the show is on an oval, we don't worry about flooring for the event - a nicely dressed car on lawn always looks good.

I'm getting my A3 display placard professionally printed and framed, which will cost around $120 which is a once off payment and can be used at other shows

I was also considering getting a bar towel with the GTR logo (http://www.rhdjapan.com/jdm-low/Nissan-Vintage-Classic-Skyline-Logo-Emblem-Sports-Towel-60090) or the beach towel (http://www.rhdjapan.com/jdm-low/NISMO-Logo-Beach-Towel-59900) and chucking a little 1:18 model on top, only problem is I'd be worried that someone would want to nick it  I'm also going to have a sticker or two from my mechanic, because he's been helping me out bigtime - if anyone wants to represent the people that work on their car, I'm fine with that (and its a cheap way to dress the car up and show your love to your mechanic/detailer/etc)

Towel and placard should be enough for myself, everyone is free to customize the display as they see fit. More nissan/skyline/gtr merchandise would be great though

I'm glad everyone is keen about this (and willing to contribute to the display). We have around 8-10 people confirmed so far, and I've sent messages to the last 4 to confirm their interest. I'll be at villis around 7pm tonight for a general brainstorm if anyone wants to come along.. I have some ideas which will make the display uber, but it all comes down to money and time

as mentioned b4 im down, ill wash my own car though u lazy bugga's

and something to note about having a model car there is that on a warm day theres a high chance it will melt. and its gonna be a hot day.

last 2 car shows i did i had mine there and had to keep chucking it into my boot every now and then for cool down breaks

I'd like a bring a model too ,,, but not the kind you stick in ya boot when she gets hot...lol

I'm happy to just park the Stagea on the lawn with a simple A3 list of details ... doors open and music pumping ... like at Kadina

Cool Rubes, did you already have an A3 detail list made up or do you want assistance? I have basic photoshop skills but nowhere near Damo or Vu's ability

I've got the Adobe Suite ... so I'm all sorted

ill finally have access to the Master Collection soon, finally, so club stuff will start looking better and better, combining InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator is where its at.

Yep same.

I should consider doing a placard for the bike, but I wouldn't know where to start nor have the tenacity or will at the moment.

    • Can you log IAT? Whilst WTA coolers have their place, doing any sort of sustained run is not one of them There are fixes that slow down the heat soak, like ice boxes, which don't last that long, and interchillers, which are fairly expensive, up grades to the WTA cooling radiator, which may require a bigger pump, and upgrades to the reservoir size,  and upgrades to the cooling fans, but, it all still heat soaks, and takes ages to come down in hot weather  For a turbo, that isn't locked into WTA like my PD blower is, can you not possibly swap to a nice air to air intercooler????, it would be better for sustained runs then, and have alot less things that could go wrong in my opinion
    • So, the other thing I've sorted is a baseline dyno run up at Unigroup's new location. The auto trans was a little unco-operative by both shifting down when the throttle was floored on the dyno (so Mark had to ramp it up more slowly than in a manual) and also by shifting up at 6,000 even in sports mode instead of the indicated redline of 7,000 Still, on a hot day it made 240rwkw at 16psi which seems about right for 300kw (400hp) through an auto at the wheels.  The shape of the curve is not quite right because it was not full throttle to about 4,500 to stop it kicking down, but until I can get a tune on the auto trans control this was the best we could do.....full boost will be well below 5,000 once that is sorted, I'll get some data logs when I can to confirm For comparison, the R32 made 255 at 12psi (at 4,500) on the same dyno with tune, n1 turbos, cam gears, big exhaust but otherwise all standard so the v37 is likely a little better out of the box. One thing that is very clear is that the standard water to air intercoolers are not up to sustained use at full throttle in warm ambient temps. After about 5 runs (so only a few minutes full throttle), it was pulling boost and timing and dropping 10-15% power. Unfortunately I didn't get that printout and the Unigroup guys are away at the moment, will try and get hold of it on their return. So, looks like a healthy engine to start modifying and the only real area of concern is the w2a heat exchangers which the aftermarket has plenty of solutions for
    • I maintain it actually looked really nice in person. So much so that I thought "No, this is illegal" but there it was, clear as day. I think we can easily call the wing and wheels/height to be transformative. Not saying it's better than the GR Whatever, or the 86, or the WRX STI or anything of that sort (the internet says it all bolts up so you can buy best of all worlds?) but it's still at least a thing and not nearly AS bad as people say.
    • That's less offensive than the previous gen.....except for all that ugly black tupperware around the edges. Blerck!
    • I leant out the window recently and took a picture of this new WRX. It looked real damn fine in person. It's faster around a track (stock) than a (stock) GR Yaris. It's much more practical despite being heavier. It's significantly cheaper. This gen tunes really well, much better than others. .... I think they're probably a lot better than people expect.
