well im 16 been into imports since grade 5 i have like 50 autosalons read them all from front cover to back,

the time has come to make a decision on where to start the brewing enevitable,

still havnt got my l's due to laziness and growing both impatient to drive and enviable of a good mate who has his suzi swift with a decent list of mods.

my girlfriends dad is using his CONNECTIONS lol to get me either an electrical or plumbing apprenticeship so once qaulified shouldnt have a problem funding my adiction.

hes also a car dealer and half agreed to buy me a car and let me pay it off to him without the interest and all that other bullshit.

he almost bought me a ps13 in a panel beaters but after going through all the guys that worked there found out it was a customers car f**k!!!

im also detered from silvias due to my grim point of view towards the members on there forum. (wankers)

so what my must haves in the future car is,

rear wheel drive ( want to go drift skool and be legit unlike the vl driving dikheds who most likely rap there cars round poles within first week of having them)

manual ( JUST BECAUSE )

N/A ( because of dickheads like the ones mentioned above ) ( and i live in the good old city of vic )

and thats pretty much it although i love r34 gt-r's ( as do almost everyone )

i saw a guy doing a conversion on a gtt to make it a mock up gtr trying to get a cheap kit and what not for it seems draining haha,

but i would do it and am really considering it,

so guys help would be a appreciated

sounds like your applying for work experience.

whats your budget? how long do you plan to keep the car? does it necessarily have to be an import? how many doors do you want? early or late model? I'd say a decent r31, ,my mate had one dunno which model exactly. the thing was bulletproof, had a surprisingly decent amount of power (would beat stock s14's), drove and handled very well. would make for a very good first car i say.

well a fairly low budget because i dont expect him to fork out and arm and a leg,

although later on ill have no problem once im qaulified

so a fair while

i want 2 doors,

ive seen the r31 house drift skyline or whatever you call it looks orite but i dont like the over all look of them,

whats the cheapest i can get an r34 manual n/a coz eventualy id gtr kit it and rb26 it which i gues would also mean new transmission correct me if wrong.

dude get a RWD Corolla and be done with it. I've never heard of a N/A Skyline being used as a drift car either.

BTW GT-R kit on N/A is rice to the max, and the cost/benefit ratio of converting N/A to turbo has been discussed over and over and over ie don't bother unless it's an Aussie R31.

BTW how can you exclude Silvias based on the mentality of the forumgoers?! You sound like you've a few years to go before you're in charge of a motor vehicle!

haha no im going to book my L's tomorrow familiar as can be with the book just looking for a base car.

as i want to keep it for a while hence using the rb26 for the drifting.

i think an n/a skyline could be driftin on a skid pan or something.

so pretty much no matter what car i get i wunna put an rb26 in it as in my eyes they are the best thing since sliced bread and tits.

unless i get a silvia which i also am stronlgly pointed towards a ps13,

as well as im not the kid that wants a billion kw's out of my mums magna,

and arnt 86's overpriced and from what i hear over rated. and ke70's are just plain ugly

a first car should be a crappy little thing that is cheap on fuel, cheap to run and something older because during that time you will still be learning and you dont want something nice that could potentially be wrecked.

Then once you save up a bit more money and have a fair bit of experience behind you go out and buy the car you want that way you will appreciate it more

if i was you mate, id be looking at a silvia. First of all, if your looking later down the track and placing a turbo engine into the car you buy, there are a million and one choices for engines in a silvia. I own an r34 GTT and at your age you will quickly realise parts for them arnt as easy to come by if you happen to wreck a panel. Your still looking at around 13,000 for a low kilometer good condition NA 34, and turning the car into a GTR look alike will cost you a fortune, money that could be saved and spent on putting that engine you want into the car.

And why do you want an rb26? As bad as im going to get flamed for saying this, at a younger age you will quickly find out there are tougher/cheaper and stronger standard engines out there than an rb26. And for someone thats interested in drifting you yourself would know that there are many people out there running sr20's in there skylines for drifting.

If I was in your position, id be buying an s14/s13 even a cefiro, getting all your suspension and handling/wheels etc type mods done while your on your l's and p's. Then when your on your opens if u want to do an engine transplant look at putting a 2j under the hood.

Anyways thats just my 2cents.

My first car was a 253 UC torana...

Make of that what you will but it was excellent because it was:

- slow

- hard to drive quick

- handled like a bucket of angry lobsters

- had no modern conveniences

- was crashed (not by me) into a kia rio and just needed the paint touching up, the kia was written off - torana:1 rio: 0

- the torque made the back end quite lively, especially on wet days

- the only form of safety was me, if I had crashed the crumple zone would have been my face

Essentially it taught me how bad a car can be and that is a very good lesson to learn early on.

Ah, just thinking about it makes me all nostalgic.

I'm not saying buy a torana, I'm just saying buy something cheap, easy to maintain, that is rear wheel drive so you can learn the basic skills neccessary for operating any RWD safely. I have seen too many people step from FWD cars - lasers, 323's and so forth - into a rear wheel drive with a bit of grunt and wrap it around a pole.

I would go for an N/A Silvia, they can be had cheap as chips now.

Plus man your grammar really hurts my head. I don't want to have to retranslate the english language.

2100Kg of..... Tankyness. This weighs as much as a Ford F100 and is 5.5 meters long, once you master parking this bad boy, you can park any car with your hands tied behind your back and blindfolded.

Anyways on topic, if you've got a spare $12,000 lying around, there is a 2000 N/A R34 GT 4 door lying around in Fawkner Victoria, drive away price. I can't comment on what car you should have for your first as I'm only a year older than you and haven't got a car yet and came here asking the same thing lol. Though, you can't go wrong with 90s Falcon/Commodore/Corolla/Camry, reliable and cheap to buy/fix/insure plus in manual, the Commodores/Falcons can move pretty decently for a first car.

hehe I went from a N12 Pulsar to a VN SS and did in fact nearly crash it due to the awesome power + torque increase!

Rolla's are good, reliable cars, I'd definitely get one if I ever got a daily.

Btw Aussie R31's can be made into sliders with a few suspension mods etc, I'd suggest one of those if you're hellbent on a Nissan. Don't go RB26 until your pockets are lined with gold btw, there's a correlation between wealth and GT-R ownership that is there for a reason lol.

Ive said before and I'll say again.

For you first car you cannot go past:

Old Fezza Mondial (surprising cheap these days)

Porsche 914 (great car to work on, plenty of room)

Lambo (any of them are great)

well ken has some good advice. mondial is a good place to start.

in all seriousness. an NA SR20 silvia would be a great first car for the things you want to do with it. or an NA RB25 R32 GTS (hard to find these days and overpriced due to demand). an R34 RB25 NA is a good car too and more bang for buck but obviously costs a lot more. conversely an NA manual 2JZ supra would be a good base to start with too. they go quite nicely.
