It is most helpful if you are running more boost and don't wanna fork out for a new set of good platium plugs. This is because sometimes the stock iginition system isn't strong enough to provide a spark to the electrode if the gap is say .8mm but if it is say .6mm it is a shorter distance for the spark to travel so it is stronger and also a more powerful spark then say the same spark that was arking with a .8mm gap. hope this helps and makes sense.
