gapping your plugs is when you adjust the distance of the gap on the base of the plug. There are tools you can buy, do it yourself its easy as pie. or any mechaninc anywhere can do it for you.

You use a Feeler guage, which you can buy at places like Bunnings. You tap the end of the spark plug on the ground until you can only just get the metal plates between the gap.

It is most helpful if you are running more boost and don't wanna fork out for a new set of good platium plugs. This is because sometimes the stock iginition system isn't strong enough to provide a spark to the electrode if the gap is say .8mm but if it is say .6mm it is a shorter distance for the spark to travel so it is stronger and also a more powerful spark then say the same spark that was arking with a .8mm gap. hope this helps and makes sense.
