also, GTR owners dont have to justify the extra 250k to their wives so as a group are probably more relaxed about our purchase, although there are some pretty nutty GTR fanboys out there on the web and these long rants prove it!

Definitely agree about the snobbery. Well really, you get that for all cars of perceived lesser value. Many of my Euro-car obsessed friends would never admit to enjoying the sound of a V8, but I can see a slight smile when the Windsor gets a crank.

Methinks those wives might be too distracted by their wedding rings to notice such massive deficit in their bank accounts

So how do we go about breaking it to our wives (the ones who don't enjoy speed) that we're spending 170k on a car and it's not European???

I read all 4 pages of it and can see the author of the article, kinda speaking peoples subconscious thoughts of the new GTR and in all is quite true.

A good break down in comparison to the ZR1 and GT3 all the way to the 4WD system that Ferrari are having thoughts about too.

No problems for me when the time comes - my girlfriend loves the new R35 GTR.

I had an issue with the wife...she could not stomach a $170k Nissan, however after she took it for a drive her mind is completely changed. She no longer wants to take her BM anywhere...it's always "You look after the kids and I'll duck up the street in your car".

I am convinced that 95% of the people that knock the GTR have never driven one, once they drive it their mind will often change.

My wife and her Euro snobbery was converted. She loves the new Datsun.

You can still like both, I love my Beemer & sometimes prefer to drive it.

But the new R35 is just such an awesome car, I am just starting to get used to it & already I am

extremely impressed with its poise & power down. It is just so fast.

I have more powerful cars, but most the time the R35 is just faster, quicker, better, cooler.

Cutting edge technology that you can drive to work & still enjoy at the track/hills. Suits me....

If you can afford the Porsche you might still buy one & there is nothing wrong with that as long as

you dont claim its faster/better because it is fairly obvious that they are not - just different.

Indeed, that car is so good in so many ways (even sitting parked at the side of the road) that the badge becomes secondary. If that car had a Tata badge on it it is still the goods.

My Brother was the same ......I told him to tag along when going for my test drive and got him to drive for 5 minutes......

Loves it now but he has problems getting his wife to agree to the purchase.....
