I'm thinking of selling the Skyline but I'm still indecisive about it, what do you guys reckon?

It's a Series 2, and don't be fooled by the blue badges, it's definitely NOT an N/A .... :D

I haven't done many mods to it, just a custom D/T exhaust with dump, pod and SAFC. It managed a 160rwkw on Tilbrooks dyno and I was thinking of getting a FMIC very soon, but return on investment may not be worth it...we'll have to see.

I'm getting more paranoid these days driving it around, and I'm thinking of getting a Rex since it still has 'some' perfomance but not as many 'I want to steal you stares', if you know what I mean. Plus the added bonus of the 2 extra doors and lower insurance costs are looking more attractive everyday.

Anyways how much do you guys reckon I'd get for 'my precious' in Adelaide??

Comments?

yeah, insurance for the Skyline is like $1400, would be less of course if it was a non turbo.... The rex would only cost me $800 and that's with mods, I was talking to a mate with a rex last night and he's only paying $60 a month, then he said he use to pay $38 a month.

Bit more than 20k Joolz :(

It's a series II .. prob get around 25k for it with that kit... all depends on KM's too and condition... its looks pretty nice to me from what the pics show.

It also depends if u get a buyer, they are a hard car to move as it is a selected market.

if the timing belt needed doing then its done a few more kays :(

but as long as its in good nick (which they usually are -esp the S2's) the 65k could be believeable ;)

looks real nice. While there are absolute bargain 33's around at the moment doesnt mean you wont get good money for yours. Unfortunately being in adelaide's not going to help as 33's prob equal the number of commodores these days!

it wouldnt be unreasonable to ask 25k, but as mentioned its all about the market... A hoon (which is probably most of us!) is usually able to pick up one of these cheaper series 1's that seem to be coming off the boat chock full of mods!

Finding someone with cash that wants to start with a fairly unmodified (performance bits) car and do it up himself may be hard at the moment!

I was one of those... bought mine fairly stock and sunk way too much into it but oh well its getting there :D

good luck with whatever you choose, theres fun either way.

Last I heard Wrecks's were being stolen (and normally raced, ram-raided or high speed chased then smashed) in vast numbers and as a consequence insurance premiums were going through the roof.

You would want to get some serious insurance quotes before doing anything. And like I said, the 'steal me' factor of a Rex is way higher than a GTST .... GTR is a different story I suppose, as these are in a league of their own.

My 2c

really? might think I might make a call to an insurance company tomorrow just to be sure. I personally thought it'd be the other way around where rex's have lost the flavour of the month and skylines are now on the menu....

as for the timing belt, I'm one of those ultra safe dudes when it comes to mechanics, do it before it needs to get done :D I changed it at 60K instead of 80K just to be sure...

It actually doesn't need to be done until at least 100,000km .... but you're right better safe than sorry! I hope you did the water pump at the same time, cos for a very small cost it can be done while the thing is apart - and it can be a huge cost later on ....
