ugh.... HD @ 30FPS is terrible (well... amature-ish) when getting in car footage or anything with high levels of motion in it. and it only does 60FPS on SD. So realistically its still a SD camera that takes great HD stills :P also keep in mind that it's only 720P HD not 1080P. So its just a run of the mill HD camcorder.

For that money I'd buy three Creative Vado HD's. Ductape one to your helmet and strap the other one to the side of your car and another strapped to an RC helicopter that your mate's flying around the track for arial footage.

Did I mention that the Vado is 16 grams lighter than the helmet cam?

cheap, but its low res etc. still, not bad. plus you can take it biking, snowboarding etc.

Here is a HD wide screen incar filmed at 30 fps, camera is a solid state ~100 grams DigiLife pocket type, cost ~$300. The subject matter is pretty ordinary but I'm very happy with the video quality. No external mike plug though.
