G-Day all, I've been looking a few Series II R33's and some R34's. I know a fair bit about the R33, but not that much about the R34's, can someone help me out here?

How do the 2 compare? And what sort of price range should a good R34 GT-T manual be?

All opinions appreciated, thanks,

Crazy.

Hey Guys,

On the same note, does anyone know of any Sydney dealers with R34's at a decent price. I'm after a dealer as I don't want the hassle of selling my 33 privately. and would prefer to try and trade it in.

PS Sorry George, I think the convertable Stang will have to wait. probably when I go thrugh my mid-life crisis.

:P

Thanks

Bobby

meggalla, gotta disagree about resale value of the r34.

A 98 model now worth about 40k, will probably only get you about 25k in 2 years time.

just think about the r33's.. when they were around 4 years old (1994 in 1998) they sold for over 40k... now, the same car, you wont be able to get 20k for..

i disagree Pete,

try going to a dealer and asking 40k for a GTT? you'll find they are selling them closer to 50-55k and powerplayimports.com have "SWOOP" forsale at 75k! high hopes but its immaculate.

2 things which i believe will hold the value of R34's in particular, the second one not so particular to an R34:

1. the R34 will most likely be the last skyline with the RB engine and its arguably the best ever made.

2. stricter grey import laws in australia will certainly make it alot harder for imports to make it to our shores. So a certain demand vs supply will automatically hold their value up (with all imports in general).

thats my 2c anyways...

Back to Crazy's question...its all about preference, i know lots of ppl who love the R33 shape and lots who love the R34's shape. In terms of exterior and interior they are worlds apart. In terms of engine performance, there is a fair amount of differences.

* same engine but R34 has NEO equivalent

* R34 makes 48Nm more torque, 1200rpm's lower than the R33

* R34 runs 0.7bar boost, a little higher than the R33

* R34 peak power has risen to 206kw @ 6400rpm

these were possible through changes in engine management system, cam timing and turbo system.

There is a dearler here trying to sell 2 for 50odd, and these are brand new, about 5k on the clock on they have been there for a couple of years.

Generally the sell for 40 in the yards, my old man has one he got 12months ago for 40. Some sell privately for under 40k.

They will probably drop to low 30s in a couple of years i think.
