hey guys

We are selling a very good condition ported and polished (really high quality - smoothed combustion chambers) rb26 head (decked), with tomei exhaust guides (brand new), standard valves (re-faced and lapped in), re tensioned and tested springs, lifters, standard camshafts and cam gears, new nissan valve stem oil seals, CAS bracket, backing plate, polished CAS, polished timing cover, polished camshaft covers, polished coilpack cover, intake side, exhaust side, brand new genuine nissan head gasket, standard exhaust manifolds, genuine 17000km r33 gtr vspec turbos, fuel rail regulater and injectors (16000 genuine k's), polished intake plenum, and any other little bits lying around for it. There is no wiring; or oil or water lines for turbo.

This is our own personal head, and was intended for our track car, and unfortuently we need to pay for other priorities. So our loss is your gain, alot of money has been poured into this, and will be a shame to see it go.

We will seperate, only if we have buyers for 60% of the gear.

PRICE: $7000ono for the lot.

seperatly: head complete (no covers or external accesories) $5000, turbo's $400, fuel rail and injectors $300, manifolds and dumps $200, engine covers $900, CAS and bracket $250, intake side and plenum $850, head gasket $100,

located in brisbane QLD, however we can deliver as far down as lismore NSW; and surrounding areas between brisbane to lismore.

thanks guys

$7000 ?...for a head with standard valves,standard springs,standard cams & cam gears..& some porting ?

Am i missing something here..

Obviously you cannot read buddy, its $7000 for everything above (and a polished twin turbo pipe which I left out), also We stated, we would take a reasonable offer, another thing have a proper look at the porting job, does it look the same as the other heads people are trying to sell at the moment??? Sorry but it just seems like no one wants to pay reasonable money for decent quality...

yea man, i payed 95 to get my rb30 head ported "extensively"

haha, no offence, but yeah homeless people do not charge much, because they don't know what they are doing, and another thing its an RB30 head, who cares what you paid to get an absolutely shit job done to a worthless head... the way you were talking I would have thought you had a OS GIKEN RB30..IF YOU HAVE NOTHING CONSTRUCTIVE TO SAY I WOULD KINDLY ASK YOU TO STAY OFF THIS TOPIC. THANKS

Seems to me that you are getting the few cynics (sp?) cause most ppl could build a decent long motor for that price and the ppl that are going to go to the effort that you have on this head with regards to porting would probably prefer to buy a standard head and have it down to their own specs and choose who they want to do the work.

I don't think it's a case of ppl not wanting to pay for decent gear but more so what your selling does. Of have a broad customer base, having said that seems like it's the goods and I wish ya luck with the sale.

Cheers.

Free bump.

cheers mate, yeah thats what I was thinking, but just thought it would be appropriate selling the head with the valves etc, as they have already been lapped in... but yes if I was a buyer, I would not need all the valves etc, as I would upgrade them too.

So new price on the head, which is bare (with camshaft caps) $2500, which is a reasonable price considering the money which has gone into it... This head would be great for any application, and is in remarkable condition

Cheers mate.

will consider trade in price for a head which is in reasonable condition

cheers

OR NOT, why is no one prepared to pay good money for good quality... sure you can find other heads for sale on the site for cheaper, and even if they do have upgrades, they are of the cheaper kind... this head is garenteed quality unlike many others I have seen here, all information is there and plenty of pics... what is going on???

who did the porting ?

We did mate, have been doing it for years now... We may be putting it on a flow bench soon, as its the only way to sell these things... no one has trust in the job... just look at it and say that will not flow bloody well hey?

new price for the bare head, and complete set of covers $2800 firm, just remember that the work alone costs more than the asking price.

    • Have you put an aftermarket oil pressure gauge on and verified your oil pressure?   Noise being on the block, on exhaust side, how high up the block does it seem to be? It could be the VCT system getting cranky, especially if it's mainly at idle, and when warm, as that'll be your lowest point for oil pressure. Could be showing that oil passages / VCT solenoid are blocking.
    • Well, hydraulic lifters will get noisy if they are dirty/fouled in some way, and exactly how that manifests will depend on exactly what schmutz is where. There is a procedure on here somewhere for dismantling and soaking/cleaning them. Replacing them with new is about 50% of the work and about 5% of the money!
    • Thanks for the reply @GTSBoy this is is a hydraulic lifter engine. Yea right i did not realise the lifters were supposed to be compressible while installed. I could push them down but i had to lean almost my while body weight on them.  I have never heard of a lifter/ lifters ticking only at hot idle and getting worse the hotter it gets. I have owned a few jdm cars with noisy lifters. This noise is slightly more subtle, it is more of a sharp gentle metalic tic than the solid and more loud tapping I've heard on lifters. I have used a metal rod, alloy tube, hose and stethoscope and could not find the source of the tick. But it appears to be loudest on the actual engine block behind the exhaust cam gear and next to the oil filter. I had mate (40 year old mechanic) go over it with me and he couldn't find it either..  Could it be a cam seal issue of some sort?  Cheers
    • This seems problematic and unlikely at the same time. Vanilla RB2Xs have hydraulic lifters. They do have "zero" clearance, but only when running with oil pressure inside them. When not running, you should be able to compress them and obtain heaps of clearance. RB26s and Neos have solid lifters. They should have ~0.3mm and ~0.5mm on the inlet and exhaust respectively. If they have zero clearance then bad things are happening. With nothing else being wrong, it would mean that the valves would be held slightly (ever so slightly) open when they are supposed to be closed and it should have all sorts of problems when running, caused by leakage in/out through the valves. Or, zero clearance can indicate severe valve seat recession. None of it is good. Have you used a piece of hose as a stethoscope to try to localise the noise?
