hey guys i'm in the process of putting this in the r33

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/1012-EONON-7-LCD-CA...%3A1%7C294%3A50

the car used to have another after market unit in there so the wires were mangled.

used the wiring tutorial in the tutorial section and wired everything up with my friend which is a electrician but the head unit did not turn on. got the multi meter out and checked the acc and that was at just under 12 v and we checked the battery/constant and was getting 2? started the car and go 2.8? also the clock has dimemd and reset itself aswell? wondered why the clock had anything to do with what we were doign with the stereo?

if anyone has ran into any of these probs while installing a headunit please shed some light on it. thanks!

if i had a dollar for each time i have heard "im an electricain, i know what im doing"......

Re test the wires in the loom, you have probly got the constant mixed up with the illumination wire.

It would be very very unlikly for the constant to only show 2.8, they will generally ether work fine or not at all.

A quick test to see if you have indeed mixed it up. turn your headlights on and if the head unit starts working (while on acc) then you know you have hooked into the illumination wire.

If nether of you are confident with it dont attempted anything further, just take it to a professional and save your self the headache.

wondered why the clock had anything to do with what we were doign with the stereo?

Clock and radio are generally on the same fuse.

easy fix sir, Get out ur trust multimeter.... find a wire(near the fuse box maybe? i had no trouble locating one in about 30 seconds) that gives you 12v when the car is turned off and tap into it. I don't care what any super fantastic gotta be perfect car installers on here think. This will work, but make sure when you tap into it you either 1 solder it up, or put connecters on it. As jack88 said, also check you have wired it correctly

check all your fuses- you have popped one.

as for superduper installers - yes I do this shit for a living and yes I take a bit of pride in it.

the fact that whatever he took out worked indicates a fuse.

in a R33 you have 3 panels. engine bay, drivers area and boot. there is a fuse or two gone. chase that BEFORE running cables.

Mate, if it's the constant wire that's stuffing up, just run a new wire from the battery, simple.

If you've cooked a fuse better off to find out why and replace it rather than run an un-fused +12v straight from the battery, good way to start a fire and cause other damage in your car.
