Yeh, it's the same here too.

It's a VIC plated car, & I had no idea where you were from.

If your budget is $30K, I wonder if a 2nd hand R32 VW could be your 1st dream car.

Check the RTA site and see if the Kw rating allows it! I'm not sure...

Nah i dun like the look of that and i wanna spend the whole 35000 because if i do i will get a better preformanced car thanks for ur answer but do u know another one around 35 000 not a hatchback please and not the skyline. It needs to be alright for P plate in NSW

Your Mom wants you to be able to STOP FAST!!!

Never mind! You'll be very surprised by the performance of a second hand

i) VW R32 with that budget of course & that's a lot of bloody cash!!!

ii) BMW E46 330Ci

iii) hmmm don't think you'll get an NS-X within the law or that budget eh?

you could make a Gt look better, handle better and probly even perform on par with a Gt-T if you spent the change on it it.

ie:

Gt = $15000 aprox

Gt-T = your gonnna spend $35 on

that leaves 20 grand change to make it into watever you want....

think about it

you cant drive turbo, and you cant drive a modified car anyway so your better off getting the VW r32, hell id even kill for one and i can drive turbo on my p's

your other option would be a S15 silvia varietta non-turbo, they look sex, and drive awesome

Pretty much. ill make this brief cause this topic keeps coming up; basically no turbos, superchargers or V8s on P's. Non turbo imports are generally (with some exceptions) slow as a dog with no legs, and usually have shit options compared to the turbo versions.

Get a new Honda Civic or something like that, or if you can't live without a Nissan an Aussie R31. You're also not allowed to have hi-po 6's like BMW M3, Porsches etc.\

There needs to be a sticky or something about P Plate laws and recommended cars.

BTW Terry, why do you spell mum mom?

BTW Terry, why do you spell mum mom?

Hehe... old-fashioned I suppose... but...

Mom = Mother

Mum = Mother or Silent or Type of Deoderant

either will do...

The E46 330Ci was only 1 stage lower that the M3 at the time.

The VW R32 is the preferred option over the R34 GT-T by a couple of SAUers

TRY THEM - YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUY THEM!!!

your blatant Americanism displeases my OCD :P

My Mom was born in Edmonton = still N. America. Anyway, that's my #2 excuse :) = makes me Half Canuk

...back to thread, has the VL Brock Commie Grp A SS gone over $35K since Pete died? nice pretty maroon colour...

or should it be maroun color 'bozodos'? ;)

In a word, yes...got the Just Cars value guide with my last copy of either Wheels or Motor, i forget which...

Internet places the group a SS 'Walkinshaw' at over 50 000 dollars.

Might check my value guide tonight to confirm.

Haha I'll let you get away with it on that technicality terry :)

Yeah pretty sure they are worth a mint, there's 2 Series 1 Group A's hiding around here actually, 1 seems to be a daily thrasher for some bogan moron, its always filthy and parked in the street. I was gonna offer the owner 5k for it once lol.

A 'Walkinshaw' is the Asteroid Silver series 2 with the aerodynamic bodykit and the fuel injected, twin throttle 5 litre, series 1 was carburetted and had a different bodykit (was also produced by HDT with Brock at the reins, Series 2 was made by the new HSV team under Tom Walkinshaw).

Nah i dun like the look of that
They're the same body! Just the cheaper one doesn't have a turbo.

Don't be so impatient, grasshopper. Please don't tell anyone that you will behave yourself, and you will know how to drive the car sensibly, and you will be capable of handling the power. Several of your peers in Victoria thought that too, and look how it turned out for them and their friends.

My eldest son sold his Series 1 Brock Grp A SS in total mint condition 6 yrs ago.

The guy (John) who bought it lived along Mitchell's Pass Rd near here.

3 months after purchase, some scum-o-the-earth bums broke into a secured garage, found its dizzy cap and took it!

It has never been found since.

If those two are genuine, I'd appreciate it if you just happened to inspect them (as if you're a prospective purchaser) and took note of their "HDT Number"?

Only if you have the time!

The "HDT Number" is located on a plate after opening the glove box.

Taaa!

haha oh well they had the Scheel interior and had the right colour paint which was enough to convince me and yeah they do get stolen a lot now that people know exactly how much they are worth :) Still can't believe that the guy down the street parks his mint XU-1 on the road lol.

If I can convince the owners to have a look if and when I see them around I'll see if I can have a look at the build plates (though I believe that even some of these were stolen from HDT as blanks and dodged up at one stage? Especially on the VK Group A's)

Was your son's one of the plus packs with the energy polariser our of curiousity?

I remember as a kid stalking a guy with a genuine Walkinshaw and hanging around his house waiting for him to take it out til we saw him with a bat at the window lol.

    • So the clockspring is responsible for the indicators cancelling on their own? I thought that was the function of that white thing in the center (any idea what it's called?)
    • Can you log IAT? Whilst WTA coolers have their place, doing any sort of sustained run is not one of them There are fixes that slow down the heat soak, like ice boxes, which don't last that long, and interchillers, which are fairly expensive, up grades to the WTA cooling radiator, which may require a bigger pump, and upgrades to the reservoir size,  and upgrades to the cooling fans, but, it all still heat soaks, and takes ages to come down in hot weather  For a turbo, that isn't locked into WTA like my PD blower is, can you not possibly swap to a nice air to air intercooler????, it would be better for sustained runs then, and have alot less things that could go wrong in my opinion
    • So, the other thing I've sorted is a baseline dyno run up at Unigroup's new location. The auto trans was a little unco-operative by both shifting down when the throttle was floored on the dyno (so Mark had to ramp it up more slowly than in a manual) and also by shifting up at 6,000 even in sports mode instead of the indicated redline of 7,000 Still, on a hot day it made 240rwkw at 16psi which seems about right for 300kw (400hp) through an auto at the wheels.  The shape of the curve is not quite right because it was not full throttle to about 4,500 to stop it kicking down, but until I can get a tune on the auto trans control this was the best we could do.....full boost will be well below 5,000 once that is sorted, I'll get some data logs when I can to confirm For comparison, the R32 made 255 at 12psi (at 4,500) on the same dyno with tune, n1 turbos, cam gears, big exhaust but otherwise all standard so the v37 is likely a little better out of the box. One thing that is very clear is that the standard water to air intercoolers are not up to sustained use at full throttle in warm ambient temps. After about 5 runs (so only a few minutes full throttle), it was pulling boost and timing and dropping 10-15% power. Unfortunately I didn't get that printout and the Unigroup guys are away at the moment, will try and get hold of it on their return. So, looks like a healthy engine to start modifying and the only real area of concern is the w2a heat exchangers which the aftermarket has plenty of solutions for
    • I maintain it actually looked really nice in person. So much so that I thought "No, this is illegal" but there it was, clear as day. I think we can easily call the wing and wheels/height to be transformative. Not saying it's better than the GR Whatever, or the 86, or the WRX STI or anything of that sort (the internet says it all bolts up so you can buy best of all worlds?) but it's still at least a thing and not nearly AS bad as people say.
    • That's less offensive than the previous gen.....except for all that ugly black tupperware around the edges. Blerck!
