I just bought a 98 R34 and it has immediately developed a fast idle, around the 900-920 rpm when warmed up , and minor flaring on gear changes ,the car has stood around on the dealers yard for the last 4 months that I know of.

The car did not do it when I test drove it on Saturday.

Where should I start looking for the cause/s.

This is my first Skyline so I'm as dumb as a post when it comes to tech knowledge on these cars. :(

i think what he was implying is that if you post it in the relevant section you will get a more accurate response...but sorry dont know any reason, umm it could be engine oil getting old(but that doesnt explain the gear flaring)?

Thanks for that, yup fully understand, best results right gear, my bad, I'm thinking 02 sensor or idle control valve/TPS, I've reposted in general.

Best of luck getting your problem sorted dude

Hey, thanks mate, I took it back to where I bought it from this morning and thier guys reckon its a dirty throttle body which is, of course, a service item-ah hem- me I'm not so sure.

It's not a majour thing, I'm just a fussy prick when it comes to my ride.
