that is included in the price of the board (well single user licence anyway). $200 for the board and $200 for the licence. so you are looking at $400 plus tuning. so even if it costs you $1000 in tuning you are still coming out ahead of just buying a vipec

If you are getting the car tuned at a workshop which has a nistune tuners license, then you do not need to buy the $200 license.

You just buy the board and pay for the tuning at the workshop.

i went vipec with my gtr and its awesoem.. cost bout 1500 including tune form godzilla motorsport..... but that was a while ago....

its a really good comp and has heeps of extras,,, ive never heard of niztune but i comes down to how much money u got to play with.....

if u got the extra go the vipec.......... again its awesome.. love that anti lag, on my to4z........see you later being beten at the lights agaion.....

whats this about nistune costing $400-500?

is this including parts/labour/tuning?

im getting quoted around the $1500-1700 mark, living in Perth NoR.

ive got a 96 GTST SII

then im getting quoted around the $2000 for a vipec, fitted and tuned.

Anyone know about these remapped chips you can get done for the standard ECU's?

Id probably feel shit afterwards buying something like the nistune or piggyback, just knowing that its second best. haha damn car has got me wrapped around its finger.

even tho u have dragged up an old thread..... go to nistune.com or woteva there website is, but i think ull find they dont have a nistune chip for the r33 yet (i may be wrong) and hence why everyone goes with the powerfc

nistune only costs $200 for the chip (and if u have a tuner that has used it for then thats all u need) plus another $200 for the tuning software if u wanna do it urself plus tax... comes with all instructions etc... its what i have and i wouldnt waste my money on anything else unless ur trying to crack some massive numbers.

The reason Nistune will be costing you more is you have an R33 so you will need either a z32 or rb20 ecu aswell as the nistune board. But still $1500 is a bit rich

You will need a Z32 computer to run the vct as the rb20 does not have it. Speak to Andrew at Hyperdrive 92093100. I think he charges $900 for the nistune installed and tuned. The play around with the Z32 computer will be extra.

I just tried to tune an R32 GTR with Plug in waste spark Vipec but refused when I tried to set base timing and found on Nissan trigger setup it triggers on the wrong edge giving different timing for all cylinders due to the Cas window sizing, Changed the trigger edge and all was sweet till i found they reset to

the same edge when turned off. Owner asked the Vipec people about this and the said thats just how it is, No thanks. Don't know if later versions are sorted but id only use one with an Autronic Trigger disc.

Put a timing light on your cars and see if you get a double trigger.

no solid as a rock...timing better than any ecu ive seen...even better than the MoTeC M800 im running now. Only ever seen issues in 9500rpm+ cars...but any ecu will with a 360 slot optical trigger wheel. Im using an Autronic chopper disc now with the MoTeC as it has trouble too...actually worse than the Vi-PEC.

Are you sure you properly saved the changes to the ecu? as what you have described sounds like tuner error to me. What setting were you trying to use? Did you properly calibrate the trigger set-up and check it with the timing lock?

Are you pressing F4 to store the change in the ecu itself as just changing it on the laptop doesn't store it. Jim at CRD found this out when recently tuning my car...made a host of changes shut the car down and lost it all.

It should be set to falling anyway...so something has been cocked up there somewhere.

sounds like a WA dealer/tuner issue...not the product itself...No problems this side of the Nullabor.

For a basic street car you are right though...Nistune works fine. Im using it on one of my other cars (S13).

The Nistune "chip" from what I understand just facilitates live programming of the existing hardware inside the ECU's it works with (r32 gtr, z32 etc). These ECU's could always be flashed with new maps, just not on the fly - so you would need to adjust the map, flash the ECU, run on the dyno, flash the map and so on - not very nice.

All the hardware you use to achieve a certain power level - AFM's, injectors, fuel pumps etc all run on pretty standard voltages, so as long as they are within the ranges that the ECU can read or output, there is nothing to say that you can't achieve 2gagillion kilowatts

Where the ViPec and other full replacements come in with is additional features and flexibility. Quite often though this comes with incompatibilities / quirks with standard components - CAS for example as discussed above. ViPec from what I have seen are trying hard to make it as plug and play as possible so kudos to them - no doubt the issue discussed above will be corrected with a software update at some point soon.

I personally really don't like having to chop / splice and add / remove sensors from an engine where a plug and play alternative is available.
