Try explaining an M35. If I mention Stagea, I usually get the followin;

"oh yeah, Skyline wagon"... umm sorta

"2.5L turbo" ... yes

"Yep, worked on a few" ... really? So you have done a bit of work with the VQ25DET?

"Yep, heaps of... hang on, what engine did you say?" ... VQ25DET - like a 350z V6, only 2.5L with a turbo.

"...... I see...." ... You haven't heard of it before, have you?

"..... Well, no.... vq... 25..?" .... forget it, I will do it myself.

Having said that, Ferntree Gully Nissan have been pretty good.

I have had other NISSAN dealerships that have told me "mate, you might as well have brought in a Commodore or Falcon"...

Sounds like these local dealers are a bit of a hit and miss.

I would not bother with servicing with them, just do it yourself and/or take it to your mechanic how knows what they are doing.

Local dealers are good for sourcing genuine parts tho.

I got my clutch, clutch master and slave cylinders, brake pads and Nismo Front bar from a Nissan dealer.

hornsby nissan parts guys are great for imports, also there is one guy at lincorp automotive in "rosehill?" near parra who is good with import stuff well gtr stuff anyway, yeh some of them appreciate it when they get a customer that knows the info on their car, instead of telling you the date it was first rego'd instead of when it was made, or telling you its a white camry that is about 7 years old or so and dont know anything else, sorry end rant i work in aftermarket spare parts i could go on about those types of customers for ages

Went in to the local and only on the Gold Coast Nissan dealer for a few oil filters and innocently asked what oil Nissan spec'd for an R34GT-t, it was all downhill from there on, I was condescendingly told 'Nissan don't recomend any oils for imports' in a manner that left no doubt that if he had to choose between serving me and a pile of dogcrap the dogcrap would get served first.

Is this a general thing ?

I had heard that Nissan whilst not being encouraging regarding imports were at least mildly supportive regarding OE aftermarket parts.

But maybe that was Mitsubishi ?

You should drive your car around without any oil, and when it blows, sue the pants off them because that's what the service department recommended ;)

nissan waitara are one of the most friendly dealers out there

That's pretty sad, because I haven't exactly enjoyed my time while servicing my car there...and mine's not even an import.

They're not aftermarket-friendly at all, and they can't even follow simple instructions I asked of them (I guess if its not in their binder and requires them to think for themselves, its not possible).

f**k stealerships.

in EACH of SERVICE DEPT, PARTS DEPT, SALES DEPT,

Whether a dealership is good or not AT EACH OF THE 3 LEVELS filters down from the TOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The CEO has to not just recognise that the 3 sections are doing their jobs; but that the efficiency of those jobs will also depend on if each section is in good communication/rapport with another section.

Alan shouldn't have to drive up in his racing suit & helmet to get good service! I've rocked up to C'bury BMW in jeans/smart cas. and get a great rapport in the service dept. On another day, I rock up in pin-stripes, and the same service dude treated me as if I'm a NONG.

I'd probably get better service if I showed up wearing loafers and a collared shirt like the typical mid-life crisis'ers that buy 350Zs.

The fact that I actually drive my 350Z like a sports car, rather than a conveyance to the golf course, works against me. Nissan Australia's too used to selling Pulsars and Maximas to people in cardigans, and afraid of people who have passion for the more niche products.

That's why I find it such a joke that Nissan Australia talks up the R35 GT-R and their place in the GT-R history.

I can do one better. I turned up at Nissan headquarters in Homebush in my Stagea to pickup some stuff and I had to go out the back in the loading dock. A bunch of guys in the warehouse saw the car and came up to check it out. They all looked very curious as obviously have never seen one before, and then one guy asks me if it was really a Nissan. I was going to be a smart ass but refrained myself. I just said yep.

I can do one better. I turned up at Nissan headquarters in Homebush in my Stagea to pickup some stuff and I had to go out the back in the loading dock. A bunch of guys in the warehouse saw the car and came up to check it out. They all looked very curious as obviously have never seen one before, and then one guy asks me if it was really a Nissan. I was going to be a smart ass but refrained myself. I just said yep.

I bought a new key for my r33. I figured car keys are fairly generic, so I wouldn't have a problem finding a key for my r33. I did.

I ordered it on 17th april, this year, and still haven't got it. They guy at the nissan dealership said they had none in Australia, and he'd have to order it from Japan, which would take 6-8 weeks. Bit of a long wait...but fair enough. So it's been 4 months and now I'm having a massive trauma trying to get my money back. arrrghh!

I bought a new key for my r33. I figured car keys are fairly generic, so I wouldn't have a problem finding a key for my r33. I did.
